Kenya's POV
No. This isn't happening.
My reflection, the one thing that reminds me that I'm not human.
"You're a ghoul?" Touka asks me once more.
One brown eye, one red eye.
Mr. Yoshimura. His expression hasn't changed at all. Is he that shocked? Does he have no way to express what he's feeling right now?
Tsukiyama's eyes were wide, but softened a little.
"You are Kaneki's little sister?" Mr. Yoshimura asked.
"Yes. He's my brother, he's the one that I've come to look for. I was going to ask you, but there was a good chance that you may not even know him." If only Kaneki was here to give me a comforting hug, I really need it.
"That sweet luxurious smell comes from the younger sister of my sweet Kaneki. May I ask a few questions about his past?" Touka had pushed Tsukiyama away from me while he continued asking me questions of my big brother.
"Kenya, how did you become a ghoul? My apologies, a half ghoul." Does Mr. Yoshimura really want to know? He's like a grandfather to me, it's right to tell him, to tell him everything.
It doesn't matter if I'm half human and half ghoul, ghoul blood runs through my veins.
But why is he not running away?
When someone sees a ghoul, they run in fear.
They run in fear because they're afraid to be eaten by a ghoul.
People are afraid to die in the hands of a ghoul.
Has Mr. Yoshimura encounter a ghoul before? Is that why he's not afraid?
No that's not the reason, if he did then he would've been long gone.
"My friend Saito, he is the younger brother of Rize Kamishiro. I met Saito at the orphanage where I lived. We were the best friends and never left each other's sides."
I miss Saito so much.
"Saito did talk about his older sister, but Saito didn't say much about her being a ghoul. The only thing he did mention was that Rize always felt sick when eating regular food. I always thought she was maybe anorexic until I figured it out myself that Rize was a ghoul."
I always wondered why Saito never told me more about Rize. He never did say anything else and I just assumed that he ran away from home or maybe hated his sister.
"Through out the years it was Saito and I against the world. Yep, Saito and I were best buds. Once we were 16, Saito and I moved into the city and got jobs while attending school."
I couldn't help but smile when I remembered Saito's goofy smile and his annoying attitude.
"Mr. Yoshimura, you asked me how I became a ghoul? Well here's my origin. It started at the age of 16. One day Saito and I were driving back from a camping trip that we took. While Saito was singing his heart out and I laughed at his horrible singing, until the car started to swerve right and left. At first I thought it was Saito pulling a prank, but once I saw his panicked face I knew it was real. The emergency brakes weren't functioning and the car was swerving more. Saito looked at me with his worried eyes and mumbled something that I would never forgive."
"Saito! I'm sorry for ever calling you a dumbass and an annoying bastard. You're like a brother to me and you'll be a big brother to me!" I yelled with many thoughts going through my head.
