The cool breeze of the night carried an air of uncertainty as Karan, Preeta, Savi, and Ishaan made their way to the meeting place.
The city lights dimmed behind them as they approached the outskirts, where Karan’s contact had asked him to come.
The streets felt eerily quiet, the atmosphere tense with the knowledge that something bigger was brewing.
---
They reached an old abandoned warehouse—rusted metal, broken windows, and graffiti-covered walls.
It looked like the perfect place for a secret meeting, but that didn’t ease the tension running through Preeta’s veins.
"Are you sure this is safe?" she whispered, her eyes scanning their surroundings nervously.
Karan glanced at her, his usual confident demeanor a little shaken.
"Nothing about this is safe, Preeta. But if we want answers, we have to take risks."
Preeta swallowed hard, feeling the weight of his words.
The moment she’d chosen to follow Karan into this world of secrets and danger, she knew there was no turning back.
Savi, who had been trying to keep the mood light, couldn’t hide her own concern.
"Well, this looks like something out of a horror movie. What’s next, a jump scare?"
Ishaan shot her a look.
"This isn’t a joke, Savi. We don’t know who we’re dealing with."
"Yeah, but that’s why you’re here,"
she teased, nudging him with her elbow."To protect us with your scary professor vibes."Despite himself, Ishaan’s lips twitched into the faintest hint of a smile.
As much as he tried to stay serious, Savi had a way of cutting through the tension.
She was infuriating, but he couldn’t deny she made things… lighter.
---
Karan led them to a corner of the warehouse where a dim light flickered through a cracked window.
The sound of footsteps echoed in the distance, sending a shiver down Preeta’s spine.
"Karan," she whispered, her hand brushing his arm. "What if this is a trap?"
He looked down at her, his expression softening for a brief moment. "Stay close to me. I won’t let anything happen to you."
Preeta’s heart fluttered, but before she could respond, the door creaked open, and a shadowy figure stepped into the dim light.
It was a woman—tall, with sharp features and a no-nonsense air about her.
She looked around at the group before her eyes locked onto Karan.
"You brought company," she said, her voice low and gravelly.
Karan stepped forward. "We’re all involved now. What do you have for me?"
The woman didn’t seem pleased by the extra people, but she handed Karan a small envelope.
"Everything you need is in there. But be careful, Karan. You’re walking a dangerous line. If they find out you’re onto them, they won’t hesitate to get rid of you."
