The next day we all stood on the deck and looked at an island that came closer and closer. "Dead man tell no tale." The parrot from Cotton said, sitting on the mast. "Puts a chill in the bones; how many honest sailors have been claimed by this passage. Gibbs said as we looked at destroyed ships in the water. "How is it that Jack came by the compas?" Will asked him curious. "Not a lot's known about Jack before he showed up in Tortuga. with a mind to find the treasure of the Isla de Muerta. That was before I met him. When he was Captain of the Black Pearl." Gibbs told us, and we looked at him in surprise. "What? He failed to mention that." He said. "He plays things closer to the vest now. A hard-learned lesson it was." Gibbs said as we all looked at Jack. "What happened?" I asked curious. "Three days out on the venture. The first mate says, 'Everything's an equal share. That means the location of the treasure too. So Jack gives up the bearings. That night, there was a mutiny. They marooned Jack on an island and left him to die, but not before he'd gone mad with the heat." Gibbs said. "That's just cruel." I said. "So that's the reason for all the..." Will said and imitated Jack. "Reason's got nothing to do with it, Now, Will, Y/N. When a pirate's marooned..." Gibbs started and sat down on a barrel, Will next to him. I just stood there and listened. "He's given a pistol with a single shot. One shot. That won't do much good hunting nor be rescued. But after three weeks of a starving belly and thirst, that pistol started to look real friendly." Gibbs said and motioned a pistol to his head. "But Jack escaped the island and still had that single shot. He won't use it, though, save on one man. His mutonoud first mate." He said, and relaxation hit us. "Barbossa." Will said, and I nodded. "That would make sense. "Aye." "How did Jack get off the island?" Will asked curious. "Well, I'll tell you. He waded out into the shallows, and he waited there three days and three nights. Till all the fishermen of sea creatures came acclimated to his presence. On the fourth morning, he roped himself a couple of sea turtles, lashed them together, and made a raft." Gibbs told us with excitement. I looked at him with doubt. "He roped a couple of sea turtles," Will said. "Aye, Sea turtels." "What did he use for rope?" Will asked, and Gibbs didn't actually have an answer.
I then had a coat put over my shoulder and a presence behind me. I turned my head and looked right at Jack. "Human hair, from my back." Jack said, and I looked at him, believing it even less. "Let go the ancor!" Jack told the crew, and they all yelled out at the same time, "Lower the anchor line!" "Young Mister Turner, lovely Y/n, and I are to go ashore." Jack said as he walked over to the boats. "Captain, What if the worst should happen?" Gibbs asked. "Keep to the code," Jack told him. "Aye, the code..." Gibbs mumbled. And we took the boat through a cave on a little river or something like that. There were skeletons everywhere, and I looked at it in shock. "What code is Gibbs to keep if the worst should happen?" Will asked. Will was at the front, I was in the middle, and Jack was in the back. "Pirate's Code: Any man who falls behind is left behind." Jack said. "No heroes amongst thieves, eh?" Will asked, and I slightly pushed my elbow in his back. "Ow, Y/n." "For having such a bleak outlook on pirates, you're well on your way to becoming one. Sprung a man from a jail, commandeered a ship of the fleet, sailed with a buccaneer crew out of Tortuga, and you're completely obsessed with treasure." Jack said as we looked into the water, where gold was visible. We stopped the boat and went off onto the sand. "That's not true; I am not obsessed with a treasure. We climbed up a little on the side of the cave and had a good view into a bigger dave; there were treasures everywhere, any mayn pirates. "Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate." Jack told him. "Gentelman, the time has come!" I heard a voice yell, and I looked to see a pirate with black clothes and a black hat. "Our salvation is night!" He yelled, and I noticed Elizabeth next to him. "There's Elizabeth." I said and pointed to her. "Our torment is near an end!" The pirat kept on yelling. "Who's that?" I asked Jack. "That, my dear, is Barbossa, that son of a..." "For ten years we've been teased and tried, and each man here has proved his mettle a hundered times over and a hundred times again!" He yelled out, and the crowd in front of him cheered. "Suffered I have, Punished we were, the lot of us, disproportionate to our crime!" He pushed the lid off a chest, and hundreds of gold coins were hidden underneath. "The cursed treasure of Cortes himself. Every last piece that went astray, we have returned. Same for this!" he said and pointed to Elizabeth's neclass. "Jack!" Will yelled and started crawling a little forewards until Jack pulled him back. "Not yet. We wait for the opportune moment. "When's that?" Will asked. Jack was walking away, and Will followed him, and I went after Will. "When it's the greatest profit to you?" Will asked, and I looked at him in shock. "May I ask you something? Have I ever given you reason not to trust me? Do us a favor. I know it's difficult for you, but please stay here. And try not to do anything stupid." Jack said, took my hand, and led me back so we could watch them.
