"Sao Feng would've agreed with Barbossa!" One of Sap Feng's people said. "Calypso was our enemy then; she will be our enemy now." One Lord argued. "It's unlikely her mood's improved." Another said. "I would still agree with Sao Feng. We release Calypso." Another said, and they started to argue, and then a fight erupted, and everyone started punching each other.

"This is madness," Elizabeth said. "This is politics." Jack argued. "Meanwhile, our enemies are bearing down upon us." I mumbled annoyed. "If they are not here already." Barbossa said and stepped onto the table to fire some gunshots.

Everyone stopped in their tracks and looked up at Barbossa. "It was the First Court that imprisoned Calypso. We should be the ones to set her free. And in her gratitue, she will see fit grant us boons." Barbossa said. "Whose boons? You boons? Utterly deceptive twaddle-speak, says I." Jack said annoyed. "If you have a better alternative, please share." Barbossa replied with the same amount of annoyance.

"Cuttlefish." Jack said, and everyone looked at him confused. "Aye. Let us not, dear friends, forget our dear friends, the cuttlefish." Jack said and started wandering around the table. He also walked past me and brushed his fingers over mine. "What are you doing?" I whispered. He ignored me and kept walking. "Flipping glorious little sausages. Pen them up together, and they'll devour each other without a second thought. Human nature, isn't it? Or... Or fish nature." He continued and put his hands on one of the female lords and the man next to her, grabbing their swords and looking ready to kill him.

"So, yes, we could hole up here well-provisioned and well-armed. Half of us would be dead within the month. Which seems quite grim to me, any way you slice it. Or... as my learnt colleague so naively suggests, we can release Calypso, and we can pray she will be merciful. I rather doubt it." He said as he faced another pirate lord. "Can we pretend she's anything other than a woman scorned, like, which fury hell hath no? We cannot. Red ipsa loquitur, tabula in naufragio. We are left with but one option. I agree with and I cannot believe the words are coming out of me mouth...Captain Swann. We must fight." Jack said, and it was quiet while I smiled at him a little. I think he made the right decision.

"You've always run away from a fight." Barbossa said annoyed. "Have not!" Jack argued back from the other side of the table. "You have so!" "Have not!" Jack argued again. "Have so!" "Have not!" "You have so, and you know it!" "Have not. Slander and calumny. I have only ever embraced the oldest and noblest of pirate traditions. I submit that here now that is what we all must do: We must fight... to run away." Jack said, and Gibbs immediately was on his side. "Aye!" He yelled, and the other members from our crew did as he did, until the whole room agreed with Jack.

"As per the code, an act of war, and this be exactly that, can only be declared by the pirate king." Barbossa said. "You made that up!" Jack said as he pointed at Barbossa. "Did I now?" Barbossa asked with a grin. "I call on Cap'n Teague, keeper of the code!" Barbossa said, and I swear Jack's soul left his body. Who is this man that he has this effect on Jack?

"Sri Sumbhajee proclaims this all to be folly! Hang the code. Who cares a-" He stopped mid-sentence when a gunshot erupted, and the man who spoke fell over. "Code is the law." A man spoke, and everyone sat back down. The man stood on top of some stairs and walked down as he approached Jack from behind. "You're in my way, boy." The man told Jack, who slowly walked to the side without looking at him. A few men then brought a huge book towards the table.

"The code. As set fourth by Morgan and Bartholomew..." Ragetti whispered. Everyone was quiet and looked at the book on the table. The man, Captain Teague, whistled, and the dog from the cells on Port Royal came running into the room. "That can't... How did..." Ragetti said. "Sea turtles, mate." Captain Teage said and opened the Codex. He went through a few words. "Ah, Barbossa is right." He said. "Hang on a minute." Jack said and looked at the book himself.

"It shall be the duties of the king to declare war, parley with shared adversaries... Fancy that." Jack said. "There has not been a king since the First Court. And that's not likely to change." A lord spoke. "Not likely." Teague agreed. "Why not?" Elizabeth asked. "See, the pirate king is elected by popular vote." Gibbs explained. "And each pirate only ever votes for himself," Barbossa said.

"I call for a vote!" Jack said, and in the back, I noticed Teague pulling out a guitar and playing a few tunes. I could already guess what Jack was up to, but I kept quiet and waited for the result.

"I vote for Ammand the corsair."

"Captain Chevalle, the penniless Frenchman."

"Sri Sumbhajee votes for Sri Sumbhajee."

"Mistress Ching."

"Gentleman Jocard."

"Elizabeth Swann."

"Barbossa."

"Vallenueva!"

The guitar playing stopped, and everyone looked at Jack. He looked at me for a moment, and I nodded slowly with a smile.

"Elizabeth Swann." He said, and Barbossa looked at him with huge eyes while the others started to argue about his vote. "What?" Elizabeth asked confused. "I know. Curious, isn't it?" Jack said, and Teague started playing guitar again. "Vote for me! Vote for me"! "No!"

"Am I to understand that you lot will not be keeping to the code, then?" Jack asked, and a string from the guitar broke, and everyone went silent as they looked at Teague. "Very well. What say you, Captain Swann, king of the Brethren Court?" Miss Ching asked.

"Prepare every vessel that floats. At dawn...we're at war." Elizabeth spoke. "And so we shall go to war!" Sri Subajee said in a high-pitched voice, and everyone looked at him confused but started cheering soon.

People slowly started to leave the room while I noticed Jack talking to Captain Teague. When the room was almost empty, I walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder, and he quickly pulled me into a hug. "You've seen it all. That's the trick, isn't it? To survive?" Jack then asked Teague, and I slowly looked up at the man. "It's not just about living forever, Jackie. The trick is living with yourself forever." Teague said, put his guitar to the side, and approached us.

Teague then looked at me and back at Jack. "How's Mum?" Jack asked, and my eyes widened. His dad!? Teague then pulled up a small dead head. "She looks great..." Jack mumbled as he looked at it irritated.

"You've got somethin' special here, Jackie. Keep that close. Never let it go." Teague, I said as I looked him in the eyes, and I slightly smiled at him as I hugged Jack a little harder.
