"Rodger."
"Don't say it."
"It's not my fault I notice the smudges on your glass!"
"I am plenty well kept!"

The dialogue was familiar. Rodger and Glisten had ichor extraction duty that day, and the conversations helped. But, they were back in their rooms now. Well... Back in Rodger's room, anyways.
Glisten was currently seated on the bed, Rodger in front of him. Beside him was a bottle of glass cleaner and a cloth. Glisten hummed, taking a gentle hold of the frame of Rodger's glass, examining his face. Rodger shut his eye, and let Glisten see. Glisten seemed satisfied after a moment. He sprayed a bit of the glass cleaner onto the cloth, not wanting to get any in Rodger's eye.
"Keep your eye shut," Glisten warned, pressing the now damp, cool cloth against Rodger's glass. Glisten hummed, methodically cleaning Rodger's glass face. Of course, the detective toon rubbed his eyes on late nights when he was researching, and that only smudged him more. Glisten was glad to spend time with Rodger, doing something that seemed simple.
"It's cold," Rodger remarked, though it seemed like he was rather relaxed. He didn't mind the temperature. There was a smile in his voice, despite the lack of a mouth.
Glisten didn't say much, focused on the cleaning. It seemed like something so simple, but the routine was important to them both. It brought them closer, they shut their eyes and trusted the other.
"Nearly done, just need to get the back," Glisten stuck out his tongue a little. With those words, Rodger turned around. It was a bit strange, not being able to see his face from the back. Glisten always wondered how it worked, but he didn't let his mind linger on it. He didn't want a headache. He went back to delicately cleaning.
They were both quiet. Words weren't needed, the actions were enough. Rodger moved a hand, finding Glisten's knee behind him. Rodger placed his hand on Glisten as he worked away, his eye for perfection making him wonderful at cleaning glass and similar things.
"Done," Glisten smiled, setting the cloth aside. Rodger shuffled back around, pulling his hands away. Before he could protest, Rodger cupped Glisten's face, lightly trailing his thumb over the reflective surface.
"Do you want me to clean you up?"
Glisten nodded. He shut his eyes, leaning into the touch. He felt calm, like he didn't have to force the thought of perfection into his mind when Rodger was there. Glisten felt like he could be real, he could be himself. He felt so calm, it was strange.
Rodger picked up the cloth, spritzing a bit more cleaner onto the cloth and placing it against Glisten's cheek. The blush, the eyeshadow, and the substance that helped it cling was wiped away, leaving Glisten with a clean face.
"You're divine," Rodger added, a note of admiration in his tone.
"And you're stunning," Glisten drawled.
The toons fell back into silence, until Rodger pulled the cloth away from Glisten's face and the mirror toon blinked his eyes open. Glisten picked up the bottle and cloth, climbed out of the bed, and wandered to Rodger's desk. He put the items down, making sure the avoid the files strewn about.
Rodger watched for a moment, before Glisten returned. Glisten rested his head on Rodger's shoulder. It wouldn't be long before they would fall asleep, wrapped up in an embrace, but for now, they basked in each other's presence, with clean faces and loving hearts.
