Rodger couldn't remember his long he'd been in his office, how long he'd been working away on his papers. It couldn't have been more than a few hours, right? Rodger lifted a hand to his glass face, rubbing his single eye. He felt like he was missing something, like he had forgotten about an important event. What could it be?
Rodger turned when he heard the door creak open, followed by the putter patter of little feet. Toodles, the youngest toon, had made he way into Rodger's office to find him. Rodger's gaze focused on the child, a smile on his eye as the girl smiled up at him.
"Mister Rodger! There's a new man in the elevator!"
Toodles' words gave Rodger pause. A new toon? Rodger stood up, offering his hand to Toodles, "Well, we should go meet him, I suppose? Come on, Toodles."
Rodger walked with the child, the one he cared for like a daughter of his own, to the elevator of toon rooms. There stood a human, one of the toon handlers. Rodger hummed, before he spotted to unfamiliar toon.
A mirror, frame as shimmering like gold in the morning sunlight. A delicate pink bow accentuated his slender waist, though he was taller than most. Rodger felt something akin to an arrow pierce his heart. This new toon was utterly gorgeous, in Rodger's eye. Though, the detective shook the thoughts from his head, finding them ridiculous. Who was he, falling for someone he'd just seen? Rodger found the idea a bit silly. He abd Toodles stepped closer.
"Hello, sir. I am Rodger, local detective, at your service," Rodger introduced himself before motioning to the girl at his side, "This is Toodles, she's very excited to meet you."
This mystery toon turned around, his reflective face shimmering in the light of the room. Rodger would blush if he wasn't so well controlled. The mirror toon offered his hand, a cheerful smile on his face.
"Why hello there! I'm Glisten the mirror, charmed to make an appearance! My, what an adorable daughter you have! I hope to see the both of you plenty!"
Glisten, the new toon, looked so cheerful. Rodger couldn't help but feel his palms getting warm. Toodles seemed confused, pulling her hand away from Rodger's to start a chat with Glisten. Like the little detective she was, she began asking question after question, which Glisten seemed more than delighted to answer.
Rodger could barely hear the conversation as he stood nearby. What was he supposed to do? This was irresponsible... He'd have to let it go. He couldn't just accept these feelings! They'd pass eventually, or at least Rodger hoped they would. Rodger motioned for Toodles once more, clearing his throat.
"We should get back to our business, and you should acquaint yourself with this place. I hope to see you soon, Glisten."
Rodger turned, wandering away with Toodles right behind. Rodger just hoped these feelings wouldn't cause more problems in the future.
