"Rodger. Roooodgeeer. Rodger!"
Glisten made an attempt to get his lover's attention. Rodger sighed, he'd fallen asleep at his desk yet again... Long nights spent on cases weren't out of the ordinary, but Glisten still didn't seem to like it. He seated himself on Rodger's desk, directly in front of him. Rodger looked up at his darling boyfriend, seeing the stern look on his face.
"You've been cooped up in here all day. You're hours late to bed... Come on, get changed into something comfortable and get ready for bed."
Rodger sighed. He stayed still for a moment, admiring his lover. Glisten was above him, looking down with that stern, yet affectionate stare he had when he was annoyed. Rodger stood up, wrapping his arms around Glisten to lightly tap their frames together. Glisten's gaze softened as he felt Rodger's touch, it seemed he was a bit starved for Rodger's attention.
"I'll be right there."
"You said that the last two times."
"I mean it... I promise, I'll be in bed soon."
Glisten sighed. Seemingly trusting Rodger, Glisten slid off the desk, and made his way back to their bedroom. Rodger, sure enough, got changed into his sleepwear. A graphic T-shirt with a wolf picture on it, one that Glisten swore he'd burn if he saw Rodger wear it in public, covered his chest, and a pair of plad pajama pants made him feel a bit warmer.
Rodger made his way to the bedroom. Glisten was in bed, wearing a sweatshirt and a pair of shorts. When he saw Rodger, he smiled, before noticing the wolf shirt. Glisten sighed, making Rodger chuckle. Glisten was secretly a bit fond of it, despite how silly the clothing could be. Glisten outstretched his arms, making a grabbing motion at his lover.
Rodger complied swiftly with the silent request, laying on top of Glisten. Rodger set his head on Glisten's shoulder, listening to the soft heartbeat under Glisten's glimmering skin. He listened to Glisten's breathing stop for just a moment, before the mirror toon sighed and relaxed. Glisten's hand moved upwards, gently running his hands up and down the detective's back.
"If you're ever this late again, you're sleeping on the couch."
Glisten huffed. He couldn't stay mad, however, as Rodger gently squeezed Glisten. Glisten shut his eyes as Rodger cuddled him, like a warm, heavy blanket that brought warmth out of Glisten's naturally cool skin. He felt Rodger tap their frames together a few times, a bit of affection to make up for being late.
"I'm sorry, Glisten. There's so much work to do, I forget."
Rodger's voice was muffled, both toons fell silent. Glisten eventually returned the gentle taps, hearing the delicate clinking of glass echo off the walls for the briefest moment.
"It's fine. Just don't let it happen again, I can't fall asleep without my endearing detective."
The two fell into a comfortable silence once more. They snuggled, every few minutes breaking the quiet by tapping their glass together in a near musical clink, until both of them could no longer stay awake, drifting off into their dreams.
