The doctor nodded, understanding. "I'll stay here with her," he said. "You can rely on me to keep her safe."
Lugard's gaze flickered, his eyes narrowing. But he said nothing, his face still hard as stone.
The silence stretched out, the only sound the soft beeping of the medical equipment. Lugard sat there, a sentinel of fury, waiting for Lisa to wake up, waiting for his chance to strike back.
The doctor left after some hours.
The assistant walks in with his computer, young master. He cold out.
"Bankrupt the Stone family," Lugard instructed, his voice cold and calculated.
"Yes, sir," his assistant replied, nodding promptly.
Lugard's eyes narrowed. "I want their assets frozen, their accounts drained, and their reputation tarnished."
The assistant's expression remained neutral, but his fingers flew across his keyboard Immediately, executing Lugard's orders.
"Also, notify our legal team to initiate foreclosure proceedings on their estate," Lugard continued.
The assistant nodded, scribbling notes. "Consider it done, sir."
Lugard's gaze hardened. "And I don't want to see them in this city again. Make arrangements to have them evicted, effective immediately."
The assistant's eyes flickered, but he didn't question Lugard's motives. "Understood, sir."
With a few more keystrokes, the assistant sealed the Stone family's fate.
The next day.
Lisa slowly opened her eyes, groggily taking in her surroundings. She was met with a bright light streaming through the window, which blinded her eyes. She tried to adjust her view, squinting and raising her hand to shield her eyes from the intense light.
As her vision adjusted, she saw Lugard sitting sitting on her couch like a demon Lord, his eyes fixed on her face. His expression was cold, his eyes piercing, and his jaw clenched. He didn't say a word, but Lisa felt a chill run down her spine.
She tried to speak, but her throat was dry and sore. Lugard's gaze remained fixed on her, his silence unnerving. Lisa felt a shiver run down her spine as she realized he was still angry, his fury simmering just below the surface.
She looked away, trying to break the intense gaze. But she could feel his eyes still on her, boring into her skin. Lisa's heart raced, her mind racing with thoughts of what had happened, and what would happen next.
The silence was oppressive, heavy with unspoken words. Lisa felt like she was walking on eggshells, unsure of what would trigger Lugard's wrath.
Lisa looked up at Lugard, her crystal-clear eyes meeting Lugard's cold gaze. Looking at him pitifully, Her expression was one of regret, knowing she had made a mistake by disobeying him and even putting her own life at risk.
Lugard remained seated in silence, his eyes fixed on her, showing no emotion. Lisa felt uncomfortable under his gaze, knowing she had disappointed Lugard and put her own safety at risk.
She tried to speak, but the words caught in her throat. She wanted to apologize and explain that she hadn't thought of the consequences, but the words wouldn't come.
Lugard continued to stare at her, his expression unchanging. Lisa felt like she was under a microscope as if Lugard was analyzing every detail of her face.
Suddenly, Lugard stood up and walked to the window. He looked out, his back to Lisa. She felt relieved that his intense gaze was no longer fixed on her. She didn't expect to see this cold handsome face as soon as she opened her eyes.
