Despite her exhaustion, sleep seemed to elude her.
She threw off the covers in frustration and sat up, running a frustrated hand through her hair.
The room was quiet, except for the soft hum of the air conditioner, and the darkness seemed to press in around her.
Lisa swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood up, pacing back and forth across the room.
She felt trapped and anxious, unsure of what the future held or how to escape the suffocating grip of her marriage.
As she paced back and forth, Lisa's restless energy finally drew her to the balcony. She slid open the glass door and stepped out into the warm night air, gazing up at the clouds and the bustling city below. The sounds of car horns, chatter, and music drifted up from the streets, a cacophony of noise that usually overwhelmed her. But tonight, it was a welcome distraction from the turmoil in her mind.
Lisa's eyes wandered across the skyline, taking in the towering skyscrapers and neon lights that seemed to stretch on forever. She felt small and insignificant in the face of such grandeur, yet at the same time, she sensed a thrill of possibility. Out there, beyond the confines of her gilded cage, lay a world full of promise and adventure.
With a deep breath, Lisa let the cool breeze wash over her, calming her frazzled nerves. She closed her eyes, feeling the stress and anxiety melt away, replaced by a sense of calm determination. She knew what she had to do. She would find a way out of this marriage, no matter what it took.
As she gazed out at the sky, her phone buzzed with an incoming chat, breaking the spell of the night air. Lisa smiled, recognizing the familiar ringtone and vibration pattern. She pulled her phone from her pocket and glanced at the screen, her eyes lighting up as she saw Deva's name flash on the display.
"Hey baby, what's up? You have forgotten me?" Deva's message read, accompanied by a pitiful crying emoji. Lisa chuckled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. She had been so caught up in her own thoughts that she hadn't reached out to her friend in days.
Lisa took a deep breath, the night air filling her lungs as she pondered where to begin. She leaned against the balcony railing, her eyes drifting back to the stars.
Lisa's smile grew wider as she read Deva's message. She had been so caught up in her own drama that she hadn't reached out to her friend in days. "Hey, babe! Sorry, I've been a bit preoccupied," Lisa replied, typing quickly on her phone. "I've missed you too! How have you been?"
Deva's response came quickly. "I've been good, just busy with work and stuff. But I've been thinking about you nonstop. What's going on? You've been MIA for too long. Spill the tea, girl!"
Lisa laughed, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She needed someone to talk to, and Deva was the perfect person.
"Where do I even start?" Lisa pondered, Lisa began, her thumbs flying across the screen as she poured out her heart to her friend. "Miller Lugard have been driving me crazy, and I feel like I'm losing myself in this marriage..."
As she typed, Lisa felt a weight lifting off her shoulders. She knew Deva would listen, offer advice, and provide a much-needed distraction from her troubles.
The two friends chatted long into the night, their conversation flowing easily as they caught up on each other's lives. For the first time in weeks, Lisa felt a sense of hope and renewal. Maybe, just maybe, she could find a way out of this mess after all.
As they chatted, Lisa thought for a moment before typing, "I want to get a divorce."
Deva, sitting on her bed surrounded by snacks, furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she paused mid-chew, a mouthful of snacks forgotten.
"Why?!" Deva typed, her fingers flying across the screen. "What's going on? You guys were just fine, or so I thought. Did something happen?"
Lisa hesitated, collecting her thoughts before responding. "It's just...I feel trapped in a loveless marriage, Deva. Lugard's suffocating me. He controls everything, from what I do to where I go. I'm not allowed to have my own life." I can't walk freely without an escort and you know I hate being escorted, I haven't leave the estate since I got married always in doors, there is nothing fun here and Miller Lugard himself is a cold demon, an ice-king, a cold demon that always drags people towards him with his attractiveness, he has a cold personality and cold Aura, always controlling and commanding. am powerless in front of him.
Deva's response was immediate. "Oh, Lisa, I'm so sorry. I had no idea. You need to get out of there, pronto! But are you sure you're ready for a divorce? are you ready to let's go that huge step?"
Lisa's heart pounded for a moment, she took a deep breath, her mind racing. She felt a sense of panic and determination wash over her. "I'm positive. I need to take back control of my life. I need to be free."
Besides, he said that I'm just a wife on paper, that there's no place for me, and that he already has someone he loves and wants to make his wife. Lisa typed, her emotions pouring out as she gazed at the night sky.
Deva's eyes widened in shock as she read the words. She couldn't believe what Lugard had said.
Deva's eyes welled up with tears as she read Lisa's words. She felt a surge of anger and hurt on her friend's behalf. "That bastard!" she typed, her fingers shaking with rage. "How could he say that to you? You deserve so much better, Lisa. You deserve to be loved and cherished, not treated like a mere piece of paper."
Lisa's gaze remained fixed on the night sky, her eyes brimming with tears. She felt a lump form in her throat as she typed, "I know, Deva. I feel so worthless. Like I'm just a placeholder until he's ready to settle down with his real love."
Deva's response was immediate. "You are NOT worthless, Lisa! You are strong, beautiful, and deserving of love. Don't let him make you feel otherwise. We'll get through this together, okay?"
"Have you told him about it?" Deva asked, her message popping up on Lisa's screen.
Lisa's eyes drifted away, her gaze lost in thought. "Yes," she typed finally.
"What did he say?" Deva pressed, her curiosity getting the better of her.
Lisa's smile was sad as she typed, "He refused and said I just married him yesterday and started asking for a divorce, that I should dream on."
Deva's response was immediate. "What a jerk! He thinks he can just brush off your feelings like that? You deserve so much better, Lisa."
Lisa's eyes dropped, her gaze falling to the floor as she typed, "I know, right? It feels like he only married me to prove a point or something. Like I'm some kind of trophy to him."
Deva's words were firm and encouraging. "You're not a trophy, Lisa! You're a strong, beautiful woman who deserves love and respect. Don't let him make you feel otherwise."
"Is he using physical violence on you, like beating you, forcing himself on you, or harming you in any way?" Deva asked, her concern evident in her words.
Lisa looked at her bruised wrist, but didn't mention it. She thought for a moment before responding. "Those biting my ears count?" she asked, a hint of uncertainty in her tone.
Deva's response was confused. "Biting your ears? What do you mean? Is he being physically rough with you?"
