Lisa's eyes flashed with warning.
"Don't," she whispered back.
Lugard's smile was subtle.
"I can't resist teasing you troublemaker," he replied.
Their lips almost touched, the tension palpable.
Suddenly, Lisa pushed away.
"No," or are you ready for my gratitude Kiss she said firmly.
Lugard's eyes narrowed.
"You're playing with fire," he warned.
Lisa stood tall.
"I'm not afraid," she lied.
Lugard chuckled.
"We'll see," he said.
Lugard's eyes gleamed with amusement.
"You're brave, I'll give you that," he said.
Lisa's heart pounded, her resolve wavering.
"But bravery can be foolish," Lugard added.
Lisa's eyes flashed with defiance.
"I'm not afraid of you," she repeated.
Lugard's smile widened.
"We'll see about that," he whispered.
The tension between them crackled.
Lugard leaned against the couch, his eyes never leaving Lisa's face.
"You're quite the rebel, aren't you?" he teased.
Lisa's cheeks flushed, her heart racing.
"I'm just standing up for myself," she replied.
Lugard chuckled.
"Oh, you're doing more than that," he said.
"You're always igniting a fire."
Lisa's eyes narrowed.
"Stop teasing me, Mr Lu," she warned.
Lugard's grin widened.
"Can't help it, troublemaker" he said.
"You're adorable when riled up."
Lisa's hands clenched.
"You're enjoying this, aren't you?" she accused.
Lugard nodded.
"Immensely," he admitted.
Lisa took a deep breath.
"Fine," she said.
"Tease away."
Lugard's eyes sparkled.
"Oh, I intend to."
He pushed off the couch pillow between them.
"Let's see how long you last."
Lisa's heart skipped a beat.
What game was Lugard playing?
Was she ready to play along?
Lugard took a move closer, his voice low.
"So, little rebel, what's your next move?"
Lisa stood firm, her eyes locked on his.
"I'm not playing games, Mr Lu."
Lugard chuckled.
"Oh, but you are. You're playing hard to get."
Lisa's cheeks flushed.
"That's not the game I'm playing."
Lugard raised an eyebrow.
"Then what game are you playing?"
Lisa smiled sweetly.
"Cat and mouse."
Lugard's eyes gleamed.
"Interesting choice."
He make another move closer.
"You know I always catch my prey."
