I took my hand from his and lifted his head so that he was looking at me, "Carlos you didn't have to trick me. You didn't need to do all of this for me."
He smiled slightly, "Well you need a pretty dress for our dinner date. I hope you're not mad."
I kissed him lightly on the cheek, "I'm not mad at all."
He waved to the ladies behind the desk, blowing kisses to them both and we headed for the limo.
Once inside I leaned my head on his shoulder and was lost in my thoughts, I can't believe him. He is crazy, funny, adores his fans, such a loveable guy, and who knows what else. I really needed this day with him to get to know him. I thought as the limo stopped.
He helped me out of the car, and I saw a burger joint, and I was puzzled. I turned to him, "Carlos why did we have to get all dressed up just to come eat burgers?"
He smiled at me and escorted me inside. We walked through the door, and this was no ordinary burger place. There was one candle lit table on the side of the room and a glass dance floor in the middle of the room with a bandstand and a small band sitting just on the other side of the dance floor.
I turned to him, "Carlos what is all of this?" I asked.
He smiled at me, "Well I told you at the zoo I wanted you to know what a day with me is like. So, for dinner I knew you didn't want anything fancy to eat so I decided on burgers but for entertainment I thought you might like to learn what I do for a living."
Still looking at him crazy and about to ask what he was talking about when a young couple dressed in a ball gown and tux came over to us. She said, "Mr. Pena, we are ready if you are."
He turned to me holding out his hand, "May I have this dance?" he asked.
I smiled, "Well sure but I'm still lost."
He put his hand in mine and one hand around my waist. The lady came over and said, "Not like that." and adjusted us to the right position. She said, "Now follow our lead." and she went to her partner.
They started to ballroom dance and Carlos and I were watching first. Then it was our turn. He said, "Calm down. You will be fine. Just focus on me and follow my lead."
I smiled at him and prayed to myself that I didn't step on his toes.
I smiled at him, "Have you ever done this?"
He laughed, "Um no. I'm no ballroom dancer that's for sure." and I felt myself starting to relax a little.
After our lesson and managing to complete a whole dance without stepping on each other we sat down for our meal.
I was smiling at him, and he looked at me, "What? Do I have food all over my face?" he asked wiping at his face.
I laughed, "No I'm just thinking about this day. Who would have known how awesome you were?"
He raised one eyebrow, popped the collar on his tux and said, "You're just now figuring that out?" and we both laughed.
He reached across the table putting his hand on mine, "I'm really sorry. I should have stepped up before. I don't know why I became so shy all of a sudden when you were around. I'm really thankful you gave me a whole day."
I smiled at him, "Well I wanted to get to know each of you. The others had had time with me, and I needed to get to know you. I have to say you're the only one that didn't try to impress me though."
He smiled, "Is that a bad thing?"
I patted his hand, "Not at all. I'm happy to know what a day in the life of Carlos Pena is really like. It gave me great insight to you as a person."
