Big Time Hangout

Part 20

I turned to him, "Kendall what time is it exactly?" I asked.

He looked at his digital watch and said, "7:37, Why?"

I looked at him, "No I mean EXACTLY."

He looked back at his watch, "Seven thirty-seven and forty-eight seconds." looking at me concerned, "Why do you need to know that?"

I didn't answer his question, and I needed a distraction, "So what happened to the others? You said life changing things had happened."

He hesitated, "Are you okay?"

I faked a smiled, "I'm fine just keep talking please. The baby seems to like the sound of your voice."

I can't let him know I'm having contractions. He would freak out and then everybody else would and I want it calm when the baby arrives.

He said, "Well Logan started dating a really sweet girl..." he paused and looked at me, "It's really not my place to tell you all of this."

Still with my fake smile I said, "But Kendall weren't you always telling me that you guys were like brothers? Plus, it's really soothing right now and with the last couple of hours I need some serenity."

He started again, "Anyway, she is really sweet and pretty. They hit it off right away. I can't speak for him when I say he never loved you. I think he is just trying so hard to move on with his life. He is crazy about her, and she is him to. They really are the cutest together." He hesitated looking into my eyes, "Kind of the way you and I were together. It's like they balance each other out."

I felt the pain again, "Kendall time?"

He looked at his watch and before he told me the time he asked, "Are you having contractions?"

I didn't answer and he started to freak out. He jumped up off the swing about to run into the house and I quickly got up to grabbed him. When I did I felt a sudden gush, and everything was wet. He stopped in his tracks, "What was that?"

I reached for him, and he ran over to me. When I could get my hands on him and keep him from freaking out I gently said, "Kendall, my water just broke. I'm in labor."

He started asking a hundred questions, "What do we do? Where do we go? Should I get the guys?"

I smiled at him, "Kendall don't freak out but I need to tell you something important. The last checkup I had the baby was breach."

He looked at me puzzled, "What do you mean?"

"The baby isn't ready to come out the right way. They will have to do a C section to deliver him." I said.

I let go of his arm after making him promise not to breathe a word of this to the others and we went inside.

Carlos and James were sitting on the couch just hanging out and Logan was on the phone, "But baby I had to do this. I want to tell you what it is, and I promise I will. I'm going to fly you out here and I will meet you at the airport. We will get a quiet little room and have a romantic getaway out here. What do you say?" He paused and I could see the smile cross his face as he said, "That's my girl. I will see you in a little while." and he hung up the phone.

I looked at all of them and cleared my throat trying to get all of their attention at once. When they were all looking at me I quietly and carefully said, "Okay now I need you all to listen to me VERY carefully. NO ONE is allowed to freak out. NO fighting AT ALL about ANYTHING. I am in charge and if you can't handle that then there is the door. If I tell you to leave there will be NO arguing or I will be forced to call the police. I can't do the chaos right now. There is a car in the barn and the keys are hanging over there. Kendall, get the keys. You are driving. James you will sit in the front seat. Logan and Carlos will sit in the back with me. Is that clear enough? Are we all in agreement?"
