Maeve groaned as she was woken up by her phone ringing continuously. The silence of her lonely hotel room was replaced by the awful sound of a call entering her line.

The girl didn't even put in the effort to check with whom she had the pleasure this early in the day. Her head was pounding and the taste of leftover puke lingered in her mouth. She was disgusted beyond belief.

"Hello?", she answered with her raspy morning voice.

"Are you fucking kidding me, Evie?"

Her best friend's harsh tone snapped her out of her sleep trance. Evie sat up with a jolt, Alanis never called unless she felt the need for her to hear her feelings. She furrowed her eyebrows, confused.

Maeve cleared her throat: "Ali, are you okay? What happened?"

"What do you mean 'what happened'?", her best friend scoffed on the other end,"You're acting like you didn't just fuck another dude! God, how do you move on so fast?"

The Irish girl grew even more vague. The lack of enlightenment added creases to her seemingly flawless skin. She had never done anything with another man since parting with Joost... or did she?

Suddenly, Maeve questioned her entire life. She tried to think of a moment in the past months where she could've possibly went in that direction. First, nothing came to mind and she rubbed her palm against her forehead, stressed. Alanis kept bugging on call.

But then, it dawned on her. Last night's party. Small chunks of memory faded back.

"I swear, Alanis, I swear it meant nothing. I was drunk last night!"

The Spanish woman chuckled sarcastically: "You keep saying that, but do you mean it? Why the fuck would you post some shit like that on Instagram then?"

"Of course I mean it!", Evie cried out frustratedly,"I don't know what I'm doing anymore, okay? I'm lost and honestly not doing well. There is so much wrong."

"Fix it or leave it, Maeve. You're hurting Joost and yourself", Ali spoke, obviously antagonised by her friend's antics.

With a long beep, the call ended and she was left speechless. In the company of her tortuous thoughts and fears, alone on the other side of the world.

Her hand dropped to her lap, dreadfully opening the app she hated to even lay eyes on right now. Evie's fingers swiped over the screen smoothly, tapping on the story icon with a tight jaw and closed eyes.

The girl thumped her head into her pillow. A deep scream left her mouth, muffled by the cushion, otherwise it would've been deafening.
