Maeve tied the ribbon in her hair into a bow. Her hands ran over the white silk dress hugging her figure. She scanned her reflection as she tried to grasp onto the event of the day.

The small bouquet rounded her appearance up. It was a clean and uncomplicated but she felt comfortable. Evie carefully made her way down to the living room, where Joost waited patiently.

His breath caught up in his throat. The sight of his fiancé could cause him to fall to his knees any day. The blonde reached out to her, spinning the woman.

"You look breathtaking, mijn liefje."

"Look at yourself, baby."

Joost and Evie headed out the door, to their car. As expected, their drive to the courthouse was as unique as the soon-to-be wedded couple. Blaring their shared playlist all the way there, they screamed along to the songs that carved their relationship.

The pair skipped into the building, hand in hand, knowing they would leave as husband and wife. It hadn't hit their heads but they also did not care to overthink. Surely, it was the next step in their journey and a decision they were scarily sure of.

A new beginning.

After their secretive ceremony, heartfelt and raw. Joost led them back to their house. The rainy day failed to tear their happy spirits apart, if anything, it added to the charm.

The path from the car to the entrance drenched the pair. Just as the blonde darted to find shelter, his wife caught his hand. She pulled him back into the pouring rain, not a care in the world.

"So, husband. How are you feeling?", she giggled at the new term.

"Never felt better. And you, Mrs. Klein?"

"Magnificent."

Their lips molded together perfectly, sealing their love once again. Smiling widely and holding onto one another, realisation began to emerge. Evie's hands ran through the wet strands at the back of Joost's head as he gripped her waist.

"Did we actually just...?", the Dutch man doubted his own perception.

Maeve bursted out laughing: "Yeah, I can't believe it either!"

Together, they aimed at the door. A day would be spent with watching their favourite movies, cooking and listening to their favourite songs. As much as they could each hate an activity, it would always shape into the best part of their day, if they did it side by side.

In those moments, all their past troubles, the seemingly endless possibilities of their future, fell into place. Both of them were right where they needed to be.

It didn't matter to Joost how many wrong steps his wife took in the recent years. He couldn't care less about the men she had talked to, the mistakes she had made. His Maeve had always come back to him, she would always choose him. No doubt how far apart they would be, Joost promised to stay.

Through thick and thin.

Evie forgave herself for her past. She felt reassured by the presence of her soulmate, now officially a part of her. Her Joost would always remember the good traits she had, he would always see the better in her. And suddenly, her flaws seemed so far away, beyond reach. Maeve had promised to love him until their bones withered.

She was his, and he was hers.
Today, tomorrow, forever.
