“Pick you up later, chickadee,” Kit told me as Kam stopped the car for me to get out. I scowled at both of them as I grabbed the guitar and got out.
“I’m not going to Wake,” I told them.
“Right,” they chorused, both in a “yeah, right” tone.
Kam pushed the gas and sped off. I jumped away to try to not get my foot ran over. I looked at their car as they drove away and rolled my eyes.
“Weirdest family ever,” I mumbled.
I walked away and sat on the porch swing beside the door and looked up to see my aunt drive up, she was in a large truck with a buff handsome man. She was leaning close to him, running her fingers up and down his arms. I smirked as she noticed me and raised my hand to twinkle my finger like a small girly wave.
She went bright red told him something and he parked. The guy walked out with Leona and she looked at me, “Hi, Blu.”
“I guess you had a nice day, Auntie,” I said.
She went a deeper shade of red, “Blu, this is Jerald, my… my…”
“Your fiancé?” I asked.
“No…”
“Your boyfriend?”
“No…”
“Your boy-toy?”
“NO!” she yelled.
Jerald looked at me, “Hi.”
“’Sup,” I said, nod my head up in a “I’m so gangster” acknowledgement, piercing my lips and raising one of my eyes.
He raised an eyebrow, “I like her, she’s sarcastic as you.”
“Not funny,” Leona mumbled, blushing still.
“Oh, trust me, we’re nothing alike,” I said, bitchily.
“Oh, really?” Leona smirked.
“Yep,” I popped the “p” just to annoy her.
She shrugged, “You’re right, I’m not heartless.”
If I wasn’t numb that would hurt. So I just let a snort, “Whatever, Auntie, Kit blackmailed me into going to Wake with her.”
“Oh, no you aren’t,” she mumbled.
I smiled, “Okay.”
“I mean it, you aren’t,” she said.
“I got it,” I said.
“Really…” she began again.
“I’m not going to even try, Leona,” I told her.
“Oh.”
Jerald looked at me, “Okay, it was nice meeting you, Blu.”
I smiled, “Awkward, I know, it always seem to be that way here. Don’t blame you if you want to leave.”
“Nice guitar,” he mumbled.
