“Watch my finger,” Luna told me as she wagged a finger in front of my face, side to side until my eyes hurt from moving them so long and so fast, then the ring on her finger disappeared.  She smiled wide, “Cool, huh?”

“How did you do that?” I asked, looking for the ring.  She smiled and we all sat down to the lunch table.

“Want me to do it again?”

I was about to answer when Kit slung an arm around my shoulders, “Hey, baby-doll, what’s up?”

I wonder if she has a split personality…

“So, you’re Shade’s sister?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

Her eyes darkened, “Sadly, that punk is my brother…”

“You didn’t know?” Luna smirked, “It’s the biggest joke in the whole school.”

“I agree with Luna on that,” Kit mumbled.

            “Thank you,” Luna said.

“Don’t get used to it,” Kit said, letting out a small sigh, “So, sit with the loser and her gay friend, or me?”

“I’m not gay,” Derek said, who been quiet for some time.

“Hm,” Kit rolled her eyes, she looked at me and gave me a practiced smile, “So?”

“I’ll see you after school, Kit,” I told her.

She frowned, and then smiled, “Hang with me tonight?”

            “I’m grounded,” thank God.

“Oh,” she frowned, then something glinted in her eyes, “I’ll sneak you out, we’ll go to that club Wake down town just opened up again, Los Angeles’s best looking all go there… I can give you a makeover.”

I must have died in the plane crash and this is hell.

            I nodded, “Sure…”

She smiled, and walked over to her little Clones.  She said something that made the Clones grin and wave at me, excitedly.  I looked at Luna, “Uh, what’s with them?  I mean Shade and Kam with Kit and Ghost?  It’s confusing…”

“You don’t know?” Luna asked, frowning.

“Ghost is the eldest and the one who keeps them from ripping each other’s throats out… he’s some kind of criminal.  Like a drug-lord or a hit-man, they all kind of work for him.  Their father is the biggest criminal in America, been sent into three trials and those three are only for murder, who knows how many all put together!” Derek sighed, looking down, “The first wife had Ghost, the second had Kit and Kam…”

            “What about Shade?”

“Shade’s mom… well, she was a…” Derek stumbled on his own words.

“She just popped up once, was in some kind of crap with the father and suddenly wife number one is found dead and Shade’s mom is pregnant, she runs off with the baby for the first years and pops up thirteen years later…” Luna shrugged, “Shade and Kam didn’t like each other from that moment on, no one knows where Shade even went or his real name.  I don’t think the father knows or even Ghost, and he’s more fatherly than the dad.”
