I tried to let it process all throughout the day, but Shade as a killer… is it possible?  I looked down and shrugged my shoulders.  How much did I really know about Shade?

I tried to forget everything; I tried to forget my dead Mom, my baby sister, my unbelieving aunt, and most of all, Shade.  I shuffled my fingers through my hair and leaned against the wall outside the counselor’s office.  I saw flashes of the shadows and flinched as a deafening scream overcame me.  I looked around the hall.  I blinked as I looked outside the window to see a dull fall day.  Soft clouds and the leaves of the school oak tree were falling into an orange color.  I could see the famous Los Angeles beach from here and saw it was empty because of the cold weather and the large tides coming in.

I looked down the hall one way and saw it was empty.  Lockers were closed and no one was here unlike it was a second ago.  It was quiet until I hear clicks of a heels walking towards me.  I turned and saw a beautiful girl with white blond hair and had sunglasses hanging over her nose.  She was wearing the school uniform but I was pretty sure a small private school like this that I saw everyone that attended here.  She was new?  No, she couldn’t be.  She would be spoken of, nothing was secret in this school.  She held a notebook in her arms, cuddling it to her chest.  She hurried down the hall and I looked at her, “Hello, has the bell rung?”

She didn’t answer.  She kept on walking and clutched the notebook in her arms.  She was shivering frantically and finally a soft, racketing breath came from her mouth and she began to sob.  I reached out to her but she was walking quickly now, another set of footsteps was behind us and we both turn to see… Ghost.  He was hurrying down the hall and he looked at us, “Run, Evangeline, run!”

She looked at him, “What’s going…”

A large creature ran down the hall.  It had no fur, and it had no top lip.  Large fangs opened and a scream that made me jump, it was the one from before.  The monster glared at us, grinning.  The small flaps of ear raised and its nostrils widened to a smell, he growled.  Ghost looked at us and scowled, “Run, it doesn’t want me, it wants you.”

My eyes widened and Evangeline sprinted away.  Blue flames raised across the ground and I looked up to see Shade sprinting passed Evangeline who’s jaw dropped as she saw his hand burn up and a large comet went at the monster.  The creature had no time to move, so even despite its weight against the comet, he flew down the hall soon as the flame made contact.  I looked at Ghost, he looked furious, “Shade, get Evangeline out.”

“You can’t take it down alone!” Shade snapped.

“It is after Evangeline,” Ghost growled, “Get her out.”

“I’ll get her,” Kam came from nowhere and grabbed Evangeline around the waist, “You take it down.”

“I’m not going to let you go off with her!” Shade yelled.

Evangeline looked fearfully to the both of them, “I’ll be fine, Shade, I promise.”

He looked at her and his expression didn’t soften, “I don’t want you to get hurt, I can’t lose you.”

            “You won’t,” she said.

Kam grabbed her, “I won’t let her get hurt.”

Kit came around the corner, at full speed she went at the monster as it began to sprint towards them.  She grabbed it and flipped it like it was barely anything.  It snarled and bit into her thigh.  She didn’t seem to notice as she smashed her fist into the monster’s snout.
