*Xavia's POV*
The infirmary's doors had barely closed behind us when I glanced at Grace and couldn't help but giggle.
She looked at me, her eyes shining.
So, I spoke to her through our mind link, "You know, I'm surprised, with us being in Heaven and all, that your dad isn't shiny and glowing. He just seems so normal."
Grace chuckled, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she replied, "Right? You'd expect him to be all majestic and blinding, but I suppose he prefers to keep it low-key—less intimidating."
I took that opportunity to really observe Him, and my mate hit the nail on the head with her words.
God walked before us with an aura of calm authority. His presence commanded respect by virtue of Himself rather than any radiant light. His features were firmly set yet bore compassion as well. His piercing green eyes appeared to be filled with the wisdom of eons. His long, silver hair framed an aged yet fair and friendly face with an iron will. He was dressed in simple but elegant garments, with a long flowing robe of deep blue and white, with celestial motifs embroidered in subtle shimmering threads of light. His attire spoke of his supremely royal power and that of the ultimate ruler but carried some warmth and fatherly care.
I can see the family resemblance.
We shared a laugh, the sound echoing softly through the pristine halls. As we exited the infirmary, I could already sense many angels watching us, their curious gazes following our every move. Grace leaned into me, seeking comfort, and I wrapped my arm protectively around her, pulling her close. I kissed the top of her head, and she responded by pecking my neck, sending a shiver down my spine and causing goosebumps to form.
God, walking a few steps ahead of us, began to explain where we were in Heaven and where we were planning to go. But as He spoke, Grace and I continued our mental conversation.
Her thoughts intertwined with mine, and she mentally said, "I can feel how fast you reacted to me; I love it and you so much."
I smiled, responding, "I can't help it and don't want to. My body will always react to you in every sense of the word. I love you, too."
Suddenly, it hit me...
We were utterly distracted.
Grace and I had been mentally fawning over each other, exchanging sweet nothings and loving glances. God Himself was right there, still walking with us, imparting some undoubtedly crucial information. I glanced around sheepishly, realizing we had tuned out the supreme ruler of Heaven mid-sentence. For all the grandeur and divine importance of our surroundings, we were acting like lovestruck teenagers, and I couldn't help but shake my head at the absurdity of it all.
Aubrey, who had been walking nearby, nudged both of us while saying for everyone to hear, "Stop mind fucking each other and listen, you hopeless lovebirds."
God laughed warmly, taking that moment to comment on the embarrassing situation, "It's okay, Aubrey. When dealing with beings pre-destined to be together as they are, there are times you must patiently wait for them to become aware of their surroundings. My daughter and her mate's lives are about to change, and in turn, so is yours."
Grace blushed and said, "I'm sorry about that."
I added, "Yeah, we're sorry. Sometimes, our bond is too powerful. We didn't mean any disrespect."
"I know, and I'll never be mad at what you two share. I'm honestly just so glad to see how loved and happy my very own daughter is," God replied, His voice filled with genuine affection.
