"We're just work friends!"
"Do work friends get luxury couture dresses designed for one another?"
"Some might do?"
"Do work friends invite the other one over when their heating is broken?"
"Yes?"
"Do work friends call each other beautiful?"
You hesitated.
"Yes...?"
"LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER!" Sanemi half yelled right before the waitress came over with a massive plate of garlic bread.
"Oooh, garlic bread!" You beamed.
"Don't change the subject." Sanemi folded his arms.
"Was there even a subject to begin with?" you questioned, taking a bite of garlic bread.
"Yes, the subject is that you're hopelessly in love with the man next door,"
"Hopelessly in love is a bit of stretch..." you murmured.
"What was that?" Sanemi held his hand up to his ear.
"Nothing!" You smiled.
"Look, I promise you were just friends at most. Just because he can hold a conversation with me and has done a few nice gestures for me doesn't mean we should date. We have completely different personalities,"
"It's his birthday in two days. What did you get him." Sanemi narrowed his eyes
"You don't know that I've gotten him something..."
"I saw you on your lunch break the other day in that fancy gift shop."
"If you must know, I got him a watch and some dark chocolate,"
"Couple behaviour. I expect an invite to the wedding." Sanemi folded his arms.
You rolled your eyes, moments before taking another slice of garlic bread.
"You guys would look good together..." Mitsuri smiled sheepishly.
"I'm with Mitsuri on this one," Obanai nodded firmly, tucking a strand of her pink and green hair behind her ear.
You sighed and shook your head.
"Mitsuri does have a point, Y/n..." Shinobu added.
You hadn't thought about it a huge ton, but now everyone's comments had you thinking.
Was there a chance that you did like him?
It would explain your behaviour?
But you couldn't.
Or rather, you shouldn't like him in that way.
It would be unprofessional.
You didn't move across the country to fall in love with a guy you've only known for like a month and a bit.
You moved for work.
For your career.
To make your parents proud.

The rest of the meal, you were awkwardly quiet.
You were confused and deep in thought.
And couldn't stop thinking about him.
"Y/n do you want dessert?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah, please!"
"We're ordering a gigantic cheesecake,"
"Works for me,"
