Giyuu didn't exactly notice you storming out the venue.

To be honest, nobody probably noticed because of the sheer number of people.

The sun was setting, and the outside streets were empty enough that you could cry in peace.

How could you be so stupid?

How could you not realise the feelings you had for him when all the signs were literally right there.

But it was clear he didn't like you back.

He was obviously with someone one way or another.

And you didn't want to intervene and cause any issues.

So you decided that in order not to ruin his relationship and your friendship, distancing yourself was best.

-

You ended up heading straight home that day.

Dramatic, maybe, but you were a woman of many emotions, and the last thing you wanted was to blurt out something you regretted.

Mai did ask you where you had gone, but you lied and said you weren't feeling well before driving home with tears in your eyes.

Your bed called to you like never before, and you ended up curled under the covers, drowing your sorrows in a tub of ice cream.

And of course, you called Mitsuri and Shinobu, who dropped everything to come be with you.

"We came as soon as we got the call," Mitsuri said, hugging you tight. "Now tell me what's wrong."

You started, from the beginning, explaining everything that had happened since you had first met.

"Oh, Y/n..." Shinobu consoled.

"I'm just so frustrated that I didn't realise earlier than maybe I could've told him before it all went haywire,"

"Look, how about we forget about him for few days and do something fun this weekend!"

"I wish I could forget about him, but he's just so...perfect, and he's so gentle and caring and patient and ughhh," you groaned, head in your hands.

Mitsuri comfortingly placed a hand on your back.

"Have you considered actually talking to him? He is right next door," Shinobu suggested.

You lifted your head up and stared at her with a blank face.

You wanted to, but the thought of either you saying something you'd regret and him actually rejecting you was borderline suffocating.

But there was also a chance that the interaction could go well and everyone would end up happy.

You replayed what you had seen earlier that day a million times before making your decision.

"I can't face him. I'll be awkward and then fuck it up and then it will escalate I just know it."

Your friends pressed their lips in a thin line before deciding to change the subject.

And in the blink of an eye, they had left, and you were laying in bed, eyes static and glued to the ceiling.

The situation had you sad, jealous, confused and a hundred other emotions.

Mitsuri warned you about the social media coverage that had already come out about him and the other woman he seemed to be with, so you steered away from any social media and focused on falling asleep.

-

The next few days were even more agonising than the previous ones. You stuck to your word of avoiding Giyuu, (which was becoming increasingly difficult considering he was right next door) and focused on work.

Maybe a bit too much on work.

"Hey Y/n..." Tengen started up a conversation with you one late evening.

"Hey! Do you have more stuff to do for me to do?"

"Actually that's what I wanted to talk to you about..."

You held his gaze.

"As your boss, and as your friend...I'm worried about you."

"Don't be! I'm doing great I promise,"

"Look Y/n, you're a great employee and I'm glad you love your job, but I fear your overworking yourself and its not healthy..."

You took a deep breath, avoiding the lump that was forming in your throat.

"Has something happened? Trouble in paradise maybe?"

You let out a breathy laugh.

"I guess kinda...I'll be fine though,"

"If you ever need to talk to someone, Makio, Suma and Hinatsuru will probably be willing to listen and help,"

"Thanks Tengen,"

"No worries Y/n. But get yourself home now you've done enough," he patted your back before walking off.

-

With a heavy heart, you began the walking begrudgingly back home.

The cool evening summer's air was somewhat awakening but it was hard to enjoy when you were exhausted.

After some time, you ended up at the doors to your apartment complex.

The elevator was fucking broken, again, meaning you forced to the stairs.

And as you finally made it to the top, you bumped into the one person, you had all intentions of avoiding.

You paused.

He paused.

"Hey..." he spoke, loud enough so just you could here.

"Hi."

"I didn't get a chance to see you yesterday."

"Yeah I left early."

"Mai mentioned you weren't feeling well. Are you doing okay now?"

Why did he still look so beautiful oh my god.

"Never been better," you lied.

He studied your face for a few moments.

"Have you been taking care of yourself?"

"Why do you care Tomioka? Haven't you had other more important things to worry about?"

Stop talking Y/n.

"What could possibly be more important than your wellbeing?"

"Your girlfriend, perhaps?"

"What are you talking about L/n?"

Frustrated, you didn't say anything back but headed straight inside, slamming the door behind you.

-

It took every ounce of self control you had not to scream into your pillow and throw something at the wall.

The one conversation you had all hopes of avoiding had, annoyingly, taken place and now there was absolutely no way you could tell him how you felt about him.

Your mouth was dry.

Your head was pounding.

You were tired and overworked and unusually hungry.

So with a throbbing heart, you made yourself some instant ramen and put on your favourite show.

And of course, called Mitsuri to give her an update.

"Oh babes I love you but this was not your finest moment. But don't worry, we'll fix it!"

You smiled at her reassurance because deep down, you knew:

That everything would be alright in the end.
