Work was the only thing that occupied your mind until August when Tengen forced you on a break.
"Take two weeks off. Focus on yourself and don't even think about entering this building." he spoke.
You hadn't made a single attempt to contact Giyuu, yet your feelings had not changed.
It wasn't easy.
Every time you passed him in the stairs, you walked straight past him, not even making eye contact.
The media seemed to have died down on Giyuu and the mystery woman, and a part of you wandered if they were even still together.
It was partially relieving, not seeing their faces plasted over every screen in town.
It was also strange because you knew absolutely nothing about her.
You also so desperately wanted to talk to him. Apologise, perhaps, see if it was possible to rekindle your friendship, but the fear of him wanting nothing to do with you held you back.
As a means of distraction, you had been spending as much time with your friends as possible. From long days at the beach to dinner parties, it's safe to say you were keeping yourself busy.
But of course, there were days spent at home, doing borderline nothing.
And that's when you'd think.
And think.
And think.
Until your face hurt.
And one warm Sunday was spent doing exactly that.
You thought about Giyuu.
Your father before he passed all those years ago.
Your mother and how perpetually lonely she must've felt, especially with your sister at university.
You thought about your friends and how grateful you were for them.
And how much you were hating no contact.
He was literally next door.
It should've been very easy to just get up and go over there.
But it wasn't.
And you felt stuck.
After what were hours of just your thoughts and an uncomfortably quiet apartment, you heard a series of knocks at the door. You almost didn't open it, but the feeling that was twisting your stomach suggested otherwise.
You quietly walked to the door, mind racing, and opened it in the smoothest of motions.
-
"Oh my god, Y/n."
Strong arms held you as every stitch that was holding you together came undone. It took you a few moments to realise who it was, and then, you weren't sure whether to cry or laugh or scream.
The way your name rolled off his tongue was so effortlessly pleasing to the ear. His embrace was soft and gentle. The smell of his cologne was lingering, and as his hands travelled up until they were cupping your face, you spoke.
"Hi," you said, just above a whisper.
He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
"I've missed you,"
"I think I've missed you more," you responded.
"Can we talk?"
"I'd like that,"
-
Giyuu ended up taking you on a walk through some nearby fields that gave you the most picturesque view.
