Back Together ~ pt 4

I was so excited for once in my life. My school was doing a daddy-daughter dance thing at the end of the week!! I literally ran to dad's car after school and gave him the letter saying about it.

"I need a dress!!!" I said. He read the letter and smiled at me

"Of course, sweetheart. We can go pick out a dress for you right now. What kind of dress were you thinking about?"

"as long as we're matching in some sort of way. like my dress colour matches your tie or something. all I know is that we need to be the best daddy and daughter duo there!!!!"

"We'll definitely make sure we match, Liliana. And we'll be the best daddy-daughter duo there, I promise. Now, let's find a dress that makes you sparkle" he said. We went straight to St David's (our shopping centre in Cardiff) and we found a place that had some nice dresses. I instantly fell in love with this lavender dress with flowers designed all over it. I tried it on and when I came out to show dad; his eyes instantly filled with tears. I looked older too. I didn't look 13. I looked 16.

"dad, I swear to god if you cry" I said as he wiped his tears

"I'm sorry, sweetheart. It's just that you're growing up so fast, and seeing you in this dress makes me realise how lucky I am to have you as my daughter"

"aww, dad... and I'm lucky to have you as my dad"

"You know I love you, right?" He said as he pulled me into his arms

"I love you more, dad"

"We'll make a wonderful team at the daddy-daughter dance. Just remember to have fun and enjoy every moment with me, okay?"

"yeah... well we've got 4 days to prepare for it so we've got some time"

"And I can't wait to show you just how much fun we can have, my beautiful daughter"

"awww, dad... but you know I'm not beautiful at all... especially not right now considering the fact that I still look like a wreck from school"

"Oh stop it, you know very well you're beautiful. Even with your hair all messy, you still manage to light up the room. Don't sell yourself short, princess"

"dad, I'm literally not beautiful at all"

"Liliana, you are beautiful. Inside and out. And I'll keep telling you that until you believe it"

"but, dad..."

"No buts, Liliana. You're perfect just the way you are. Now, let's find some shoes and accessories to complete your stunning look"

"fine" I said. We found tons of stuff and when it came to pay I gave him puppy dog eyes and he immediately got out his card. He was gonna pay for it regardless but it still felt good to give him puppy dog eyes. "Thank you, daddy!!!" I said as I wrapped my arms around me. I only called him daddy when he did things for me. I did need a new vape though... "dad... please don't have a go at me for this because I promised I would cut down because I'm only 13 but my vape died this morning so can you get me a new one...?" I said. He sighed and pushed me towards a vape place.

"You promise that you'll cut down?"

"i promise I will but I can't just cut it off completely in a day. I still need it but I promise I have been lowering my intake!!"

"That makes sense. Okay, sweetheart. Want any specific flavour?"

"You choose. You know me best" I said. He went in and bought me a strawberry ice cream one. Dad knew I was still grounded but he also knew that I had an addiction and he couldn't just take that from me. It wouldn't be healthy to just stop. I had to gradually come off it and he knew that.
