*Lexi's POV*

I had my blood test and then Lando came into the living room a couple days later. He looked terrified. Was it bad? What was it?

"Lexi, I have some news from the doctor" he said. Tears were literally glistening in his eyes.

"Yeah...?"

"Lexi, your blood test results came back. And... well, there's something abnormal"

"what...?"

"Lexi, they found leukaemia cells in your blood" he said before his tears finally started falling down his face. My eyes filled with tears. I had cancer...?

"what... no... but... Lan..." I stuttered. I was so scared. I mean, yeah, I wanted to die in the past and I had attempted before but I was fresh out of uni and still trying to figure out things. Basically all uni students are suicidal after they leave. It's like an automatic thing. I was fine after 5 years... I didn't want to die... "I'm gonna die..."

"No, Lexi, you're not going to die. You have leukaemia, but it's treatable"

"basically everyone who has that dies..."

"Lexi, listen to me. You are strong, and you are going to fight this. You are going to beat it"

"am I... am I gonna lose my hair or is that just a myth or something...?"

"Yeah, losing your hair is a possibility. It can happen sometimes with chemotherapy treatments. But you know what? You are beautiful no matter what you look like"

"but... I don't wanna lose my hair..."

"I know it's scary, but it's only temporary. And when it grows back, you'll be even more stunning than before"

"how the hell are we meant to tell Liliana...? she's been through enough already... first I get stabbed and go into a coma and she's terrified that I'm never gonna wake up, and then she gets pregnant and goes on abortion pills and now she's gonna have to deal with me having leukaemia... she's gonna lose her mind... she's only 13..."

"Lexi, we'll tell her together"

"She's not gonna cope..."

"Lexi, Liliana is strong. She may not understand everything right now, but she loves you more than anything. And we'll be there for her every step of the way. Together, we can get through this"

"I just don't get how I have leukaemia..."

"Lexi, sometimes our bodies just don't work the way they're supposed to. But you know what? You're gonna beat it. And when you do, we're gonna celebrate like there's no tomorrow"

"this wasn't how our love story was meant to go... what the fuck was written in the stars that made this happen..."

"Our love story isn't over yet, Lexi. And as for what was written in the stars... well, maybe this is just another challenge we have to face together"

"so... I'm guessing I've got to start having chemo now...?"

"Yes, Lexi. You're going to have to go through chemotherapy. But trust me when I say this: it's not as bad as everyone says it is"

"and how many times do I need to have it...? every week? every 3 weeks? every month?"

"Every week, baby"

"great..."

"Listen to me, Lexi"

"What...?"

"You're gonna kick this leukaemia's ass. You hear me? You are strong, brave, and capable of overcoming anything life throws at you. And I'll be by your side every step of the way, supporting you and helping you through anything. We got this"

"I don't think I will... my luck says otherwise..."

"Lexi, your luck is about to change. And when it does, you're gonna see just how amazing life can be"

"it's not gonna happen... I might as well just try to enjoy my last few years of life because my luck will literally make it impossible for me to beat this..."

"Lexi, don't you dare talk like that"

"but it's true..."

"Listen to me, Lexi. You are not defined by your illness. You are so much more than that. And I'm not gonna let you give up on yourself like that"

"when am I meant to start chemo...?"

"Monday. So, in 2 days. But before that, there's something I want to do with you. Something fun, to take your mind off things for a little while. How about it?"

"Like what...?"

"A little pizza party just for us" he said. He ordered a couple pizzas, garlic bread and chips. It was perfect. I loved him so much... I just had to hope that I would be spending more than a few more years with him.
