Once again, Liliana went out to a party a week later. We thought she was in her room but the window was open so it was obvious she had snuck out. Lexi was so stressed so I just took her to bed before going downstairs and turning the lights off. I was gonna wait until Liliana got home.

"Where were you? I've been worried sick about you all night" I said as soon as she walked in the house

"nowhere!!! It doesn't matter!!!"

"Liliana, it matters. You can't just disappear like that without telling anyone where you are. I thought something terrible might have happened"

"As if. you're just so overprotective!!!"

"Maybe I am, but that doesn't change the fact that you put me through hell tonight. Do you understand how scared I was?"

"you're just pissed off that I'm growing up and you're just an old man!!!"

"Liliana, that's not fair. I love you, and I just want to make sure you're safe"

"I'm fine!!! just let me do my thing!!! focus on mum and get her to not be such a crazy person with all her stupid disorders!!!!"

"Liliana, I have had enough of your mouth and your disrespectful attitude"

"okay, and??"

"You're grounded for a month, no computer, no phone, no parties, and no friends. And you will apologise to your mother immediately. Do I make myself clear?"

"are you fucking kidding me???"

"Liliana, I mean it. You will do as I say or face the consequences"

"fuck you, dad!!"

"I have had enough of your fucking mouth! You will shut up and do as you're told, or I swear to God I will strip you of everything you hold dear!"

"you can't do that!!!"

"Oh, but I can and I will. You may be my daughter, but you are also a part of this family, and right now, you are bringing nothing but disgrace to our name"

"I don't care!!!"

"You better start caring. Because if you don't, I will make sure your life becomes a living hell"

"you wouldn't dare to do that to me. your only child"

"You are my only child, but that does not mean you are above discipline or consequences"

"fuck off, dad!!!" She said. I pushed her against the wall. I lost my shit

"You will not speak to me that way! I am your father, and I will not tolerate such disrespect"

"get off me!!!"

"Fine! Go to your room, young lady! And think about what you've done"

"fine!!!"

"Liliana, you and I need to have a serious talk when you've cooled off!!!" I yelled as she stomped up the stairs. I went to cuddle up to Lexi.

"how long have you grounded her for this time...?" Lexi asked

"This time... she's grounded for a month. No friends, no parties, no electronics. Just schoolwork and chores"

"she must really hate you right now..."

"Yeah, well, deep down, she knows I'm doing this for her own good"

"well I know you're doing it for her good... I guess I just put it on you to ground her because I'm scared that I'm gonna relapse one of my addictions if she starts hating me for it..."

"I know you're struggling with your own demons, Lexi. But don't ever think that Liliana holds you responsible for anything like that. She loves you unconditionally, just like I do"

"yeah... I'm just scared that she'll say something that will trigger me to do something like burn my wrists again..."

"I promise you, Liliana won't do anything to intentionally hurt you. She may say something out of frustration, but she knows how sensitive that subject is for you"

"yeah but she has an uncontrollable mouth. when she's drunk or pissed off she will say all sorts of things that are sensitive topics without even realising she's saying it..."

"That's true. But I think it's important for you to talk to her about your triggers. Maybe she can learn to be more aware of what she says when she's upset"

"it doesn't matter because it still comes out her mouth anyways..."

"You need to stop blaming yourself for everything. Yes, Liliana can be insensitive at times, but that doesn't mean you should punish yourself because of it"

"it's just really hard..."

"I know it's hard, Lexi. But you have to learn to forgive yourself and move on. You're a strong person, and I believe in you"

"mhm..."

"Get some sleep, Lexi. We'll talk more about this in the morning, okay?"

"yeah... love you..."

"Love you too, sweetheart. Always"
