Chapter 29

~ Y/n's point of view ~

Jeongyeon: "First of all, I have to tell you that Sana is right about what she told you. I'm confident in my body again, and I know a lot of people are attracted to me, but...in front of you that confidence is gone. But it's not your fault, it's just that compared to me...your body is so much better."

Y/n: "I forbid you to say that. Just because you've put on weight doesn't mean your body is necessarily less beautiful than mine. I'm not saying that to make you feel good, I'm saying it because it's true. You're beautiful Jeongyeon, you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. And no, I'm not saying that because I have no taste."

I saw her nod thoughtfully.

Jeongyeon: "And I think the problem is that...I don't feel I'm good enough for you. It's not that I don't like myself or feel bad about myself, it's just that you're amazing."

Y/n: "That's not true, if there's one who doesn't deserve the other here, it's me. You."

Jeongyeon: "I can't let you say such a thing Y/n. You know it's completely untrue."

Y/n: "But I mean it. You're so strong, so brave, so hard-working, so talented, persevering, serious, interesting, funny, thoughtful, understanding, open-minded, and so beautiful. How do you expect me to deserve someone like you?"

Jeongyeon: "What about you? Don't you think you have just as many qualities? I know that deep down you have a lot of love to give, even if you hide it, you're also funny, you're also beautiful, you're also open-minded, strong and interesting. And you're someone I can trust, you're someone who'd listen to me talk all night long, who supports me every step of the way, and above all, you're the one who pushes me every day to become better. I wouldn't be who I am today if you hadn't been part of my life, and you couldn't have had such a beneficial impact on me if you didn't have at least as many qualities as I do."

A big smile appeared on my face. Hearing this kind of thing from Jeongyeon made me feel like I was being rewarded for all my efforts. However complicated and often discouraging, there comes a day when you're rewarded for your efforts. Not necessarily in the way you expect, or by the person you expect, but it happens.

Y/n: "In that case...couldn't we say that we're both incredible?"

Jeongyeon: "That would just be telling the truth. I wonder how people would react if they knew the two most wonderful women on the planet were dating."

Y/n: " I will make sure they don't find out, but one thing's for sure: some people would be sad if we were taken, and others would be thrilled to know we're together."

Jeongyeon: "That's very likely indeed."

Y/n: "Now that we've made up our minds, shouldn't we get some sleep? We're going to be really tired tomorrow."

She nodded, smiling.

Jeongyeon: "Even if there's not much time left to sleep, at least I will be able to go back to sleep knowing that in the eyes of the woman I love I am the most beautiful woman in the world."

Y/n: "And me, even if there's not much time left to sleep, I will be able to go back to sleep knowing that I'm going to do it by the side of the most beautiful woman in the world. And anyway, even if you weren't the most beautiful woman in the world you would still be stunning, and you would still be the woman I love."

The growing joy emanating from Jeongyeon was adorable and filled me with indescribable, lingering happiness.

Jeongyeon: "In that case, let me take you in my arms and let's go back to sleep."

She approached me but I pushed her hands away from my body in protest.

Y/n: "No, tonight I'll hold you."

She laughed lightly at my reaction.

Jeongyeon: "Okay, I accept."

I hugged her tightly and happily, pressing my body against her back.

Y/n: "Have a good night Jeongyeon."

Jeongyeon: "You too Y/n."

I went back to sleep quickly, being tired, but above all very comfortable.

The next few days passed quickly, as Jeongyeon and I slowly discovered life as a couple. After careful consideration, we decided it was time to tell the remaining girls that we were dating, since Momo and Dahyun were the only ones who didn't know. So we took advantage of a quiet evening, during dinner, to make our announcement.

I waited patiently, and above all nervously, for a silent moment before standing up, and seeing me do so Jeongyeon did the same.

Jeongyeon: "Girls. Y/n and I have something to tell you."

Y/n: "Most of you know, for various reasons, but we'd like to inform those of you who don't yet."

I felt the stress begin to get to me in earnest.

Jeongyeon: "It's a delicate subject, but Y/n and I don't want to hide it from you. I hope you'll understand us."

She turned her head towards me and I gestured for her to say it. I had lost the courage to do so.

Jeongyeon: "Y/n and I are in a relationship. Since a few days."

I saw Dahyun's eyes darken.

Momo: "With who?"

Jeongyeon looked at her confused.

Y/n: "She and I. Together."

Momo: "I didn't know you liked girls. You should have told me."

Dahyun stood up abruptly.

Dahyun: " You should be ashamed of yourself."

All eyes turned to her.

Dahyun: "I can't believe I've been around people like you for so many years."

She turned to the others.

Dahyun: "And I can't believe you don't say anything! Do you realize that? There's something wrong with them! They're not normal!"

She pointed at us in disgust, but Jihyo intervened.

Jihyo: "Dahyun stop it! You can't disrespect them like that!"

Dahyun: "You're defending them? What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Jihyo: "You don't have to say such things to them! They've done nothing wrong!"

Dahyun: "'Done nothing wrong'? Are you joking? They just said they're a couple and you've got no problem with that?! They're two women Jihyo! And two women shouldn't be in a relationship!"

Jihyo got up and banged on the table angrily, while shouting.

Jihyo: "That's enough! If you're going to keep on belittling them like that then get out of here!"

Dahyun didn't hesitate for a moment before angrily leaving the room.

Dahyun: "You'll burn in hell!"

We sat down and finished the meal silently. I could hardly believe what had just happened. I really thought that Dahyun would have understood, or at least that she would give us a chance to show her that there was nothing wrong with our relationship, but...it was just the opposite. And it hurt terribly. Dahyun was, like every other member of the group, one of the most important people in my life. I'd spent nearly nine years seeing her almost every day, from morning to night, and this was how she treated me. All because of my feelings for Jeongyeon...

Momo: "If it makes you feel any better...I want you to know that I support you. I'm sure the two of you make a lovely couple."

Jeongyeon: "Thank you. It means a lot to us."

Y/n: "Thanks Momo."

I quickly finished eating, then left in the direction of the bedroom, followed by Jeongyeon.
