Chapter 18

I had just started one of the choreographies when Jeongyeon came back into the room.

Jeongyeon: "What are you doing?"

Y/n: "I'm practicing the choreography for the new album."

Jeongyeon: "I'd completely forgotten. I really should have been practicing too."

Y/n: "You can always join me."

Jeongyeon: "I'll do that. But first I'm going to put my cell phone on charge. It was to get my charger that I came in the first place."

Y/n: "Go ahead, I'll wait for you."

We then spent the morning training together, before sitting on the floor to catch our breath.

Y/n: "Do you remember that at the beginning of Twice we always stayed longer than the others to keep rehearsing the choreography because we often made mistakes?"

Jeongyeon: "How could I forget? I felt so ashamed at first that I needed extra practice to get up to the same level as the others. But with time, I learned to be grateful for this weakness. Because it was during all those hours we spent just the two of us, trying to overcome the same problem, that you and I became so close.

Y/n: "It's true. I always saw it as a shame too, but now that you mention it, I realize that even though it was complicated, both physically and emotionally, it was more than worth it."

We looked at each other, smiling.

Jeongyeon: "When I think of all we've achieved since the group was formed..."

Y/n: "It's really incredible. Even what we did before the group was formed is already admirable."

Jeongyeon: "The years of training and...Sixteen..."

[If you don't know, Sixteen is the show from which the Twice girls were chosen. As the name suggests, there were 16 of them at the start, and as you know, 9 of them were selected to be part of the Twice group. The show was extremely difficult for each of the girls who took part]

Y/n: "I have so many bad memories of that period."

Jeongyeon: "Me too. Everything was so horrible. It was the time in my life when the pressure and stress were the greatest."

Y/n: "For me too. I couldn't do Sixteen again. It was a really difficult experience."

Jeongyeon: "The fear at every show of having to leave, of seeing the people we went through it with gradually leaving...I remember when you went backstage at the end of the last show, after we'd found out we were the ones who were going to debut as Twice, you fainted."

Y/n: "I was overwhelmed by so many emotions all at once, with the pressure relieved, the realization of events, and the hard work I'd put in throughout the shoot hoping to be kept...my body couldn't take it any longer."

I'd had a hard time being appreciated by the Koreans because of my French origins, but in the end I'd done very well.

Jeongyeon: "You had everyone panicking."

Y/n: "I can imagine. But look, everything's fine. Everything's going so well that we're the second biggest girl group."

Jeongyeon: "That's true. And first in the hearts of Once."

I nodded, smiling.

Y/n: "I miss them already. There's nothing better than when you're in a stadium, and you hear them all start screaming as soon as you appear."

Jeongyeon: "And as soon as we speak."

Y/n: "And as soon as we get near them."

We started laughing.
