Chapter 26

When we arrived in the bedroom, Jeongyeon looked at me with a small smile as she closed the door.

Jeongyeon: "So you want to kiss me, but you don't dare to?"

I looked away, not daring to answer. Jeongyeon moved closer to me and put her arms around my neck, trying to catch my eye, which didn't take long to happen. How could I not look at this beautiful woman?

Jeongyeon: "Your face is turning red."

She seemed very amused by the situation, while I was embarrassed. I hid my face in her neck so she couldn't see me anymore, which made her laugh, before she took me in her arms.

Jeongyeon: "That's funny because you had no trouble kissing me yesterday."

I stepped back to speak.

Y/n: "But that was in the heat of the moment."

Jeongyeon: "Do you want me to set fire to the room to help you?"

There was a heavy silence.

Y/n: "You're aware that wasn't funny?"

She put her hand on her chest dramatically.

Jeongyeon: "It breaks my heart to hear that Y/n."

I rolled my eyes at her bad acting.

Y/n: "Of course."

Jeongyeon: "Because you don't believe me either?"

She dropped back on the bed, her eyes closed and her hand on her forehead, looking falsely hurt. I went to lie down next to her, taking advantage of our proximity to admire her beautiful face. She opened her eyes and turned her head towards me, smiling, before bringing her hand up to my face and gently caressing my cheek with her thumb.

Jeongyeon: "I'm so happy, you know? I can't believe we're finally together. It seems so unrealistic."

I smiled at her, even though I could see exactly what she meant.

Y/n: "I'm telling myself the same thing. There were so many barriers to stop it from happening. The fact that we were Idols, the fact that we were two women, the fact that we were in the same group..."

As I spoke, I was mesmerized by Jeongyeon's beautiful eyes. I loved being able to see them so closely and knowing that I didn't have to do it discreetly. I could finally look at them with love without fearing that Jeongyeon would find it strange.

Jeongyeon: "That's exactly it. And then it's just...complicated even under normal circumstances to win someone's heart."

Y/n: "I find it ironic that most of our songs are super-cute, happy love songs, when you see how complicated love is and how quickly it can do a lot of harm. Especially as, in theory, we're not even allowed to be in a relationship."

Jeongyeon: "That's true, but look at where we are today."

I started to smile, thinking about recent events.

Y/n: "Four years...it took me four years for this."

Jeongyeon: "It's been four years of you loving me?"

I nodded.

Jeongyeon: "Me too."

I looked at her surprised.

Y/n: "Really?"

Jeongyeon: "Yes. Sharing a room with you...it really changed something in me. Especially when I saw how you took care of me when I was at my lowest."

The moment was really quiet, it was just me and Jeongyeon. I was trying to focus as much on my eyesight as my hearing, to observe every detail of Jeongyeon's face as she spoke, while turning my attention to her deep, steady voice, and trying to capture the subtlety of every word she used.
