Namjoon leaned against the wall of his dimly lit office, the tension in the air thick enough to cut with a knife. He rubbed his temples, trying to shake off the weight of his thoughts.
His brother, Jungkook, was spiraling deeper into a dangerous obsession with Nari, and while he understood the feelings at play, Namjoon knew that this situation had the potential to become catastrophic.
"Damn it, Kook," he muttered under his breath. "You're playing with fire."
He paced the room, his mind racing with possibilities. Namjoon had always been the level-headed one, the strategist who calculated every move before making it.
Jungkook, on the other hand, was all passion and impulsiveness.
Namjoon couldn't deny that Jungkook's feelings for Nari were genuine, but the danger that came with their world loomed like a storm cloud overhead.
He needed a plan.
"First things first," Namjoon said to himself, pausing to glance out the window at the sprawling city below. "I have to ensure Nari is protected. If she knows too much about our family, about our history... she could become a target. And Kook won't see it coming."
He picked up his phone, scrolling through his contacts until he found Kai's name. Kai had always been a reliable source of information, and Namjoon needed every piece of intel he could gather.
He dialed the number, pacing the floor as he waited for Kai to pick up.
"Namjoon," Kai answered, his voice calm yet curious. "What's going on?"
"Kai, I need to know everything about Nari's background-her family, her ties. I suspect there's more to her story than we know," Namjoon said, urgency in his tone.
"Sure, but why? I thought Jungkook wanted to keep her in the dark about all this?" Kai replied, his curiosity piqued.
"Because keeping her in the dark is a double-edged sword," Namjoon explained, running a hand through his hair.
"If she uncovers something herself or if someone else reveals it to her, it could destroy whatever bond she has with Kook. And I can't let that happen. I need to protect them both."
"Got it. I'll dig into it," Kai said, his voice serious. "But you need to watch Jungkook. If he finds out you're looking into her past, he might not take it well."
Namjoon sighed, nodding even though Kai couldn't see him. "I know, but I can't let him blindly dive into a situation that could turn deadly. I'll handle him."
"Just be careful, Namjoon. You know how passionate he can get," Kai warned. "Keep me posted."
"Will do," Namjoon said before hanging up, his thoughts racing.
He needed more than just information; he needed to create a safety net around Nari. If Jungkook's father was involved with Nari's family's dark past, it would make her a prime target in their world. He walked to his desk, pulling out a pen and paper, jotting down a few names-contacts within their circles who could provide additional muscle if things escalated.
Next, he pulled out a map of the city, marking locations that might serve as safe houses for Nari, places where she could escape to if things turned chaotic. "I'll ensure she has a way out," he murmured to himself.
As he plotted and planned, a thought struck him. What if he could use this to his advantage? If Nari had ties to the underworld, it might be possible to leverage that connection to gain influence and protect both her and Jungkook. But first, he needed to convince Jungkook to listen to reason.
