Author's POV

Nari lay in his arms, her body growing weaker with every passing moment. It was a strange paradox-her mind reeled with confusion and alarm, but her body betrayed her entirely, sinking further into Taehyung's embrace as if it were the safest place in the world.

Taehyung brushed his fingers through her hair with an unsettling tenderness, his gaze fixed on her as though she were a delicate artifact he'd long coveted. He held a glass of water in one hand, the other cradling her limp frame.

"Here," he said, pressing the glass to her lips. "Drink this. You'll feel better."

Nari hesitated but had no strength to resist. She took small sips, the cool liquid soothing her parched throat but doing little to quell the storm inside her.

His voice was soft but laced with a quiet intensity. "You're too trusting, little bird. You let him hurt you, break you, and still, you clung to the lie that he cared."

"W-what are you saying?" she stammered, her voice barely audible.

He leaned closer, his lips brushing against her temple as he whispered, "I'm saying Jeon was never the hero you made him out to be. He's the villain in your story, Nari, and you were too blinded by your feelings to see it."

Her heart sank. She wanted to argue, to deny his words, but doubt crept in like a shadow, whispering that he might be right.

"Do you remember asking him about your father?" Taehyung continued, his voice low, almost hypnotic. "About why your family fell apart? He never answered you, did he?"

Nari's breath hitched, and she shook her head weakly.

"Of course he didn't," Taehyung said, his lips curling into a bitter smile. "Because the truth would have shattered you, and he couldn't risk losing his hold on you."

"What truth?" she managed, her voice trembling.

He cupped her face gently, tilting her chin so she couldn't look away from him. His eyes bore into hers, filled with a dangerous mix of intensity and feigned warmth.

"Your father," he began, his voice dropping to a whisper, "was a rival to Jeon's father. They were enemies in every sense of the word. But your father...he was innocent. He wanted out of that world, to protect you and your family. Jeon's father couldn't allow that. He saw your father's goodness as a weakness, and in the end, they killed each other."

Nari's eyes widened in shock, her mind racing to process his words.

"And Jeon?" Taehyung continued, his tone growing colder. "He didn't just inherit his father's empire-he inherited his cruelty. He knew who you were, Nari. He knew your father had tried to leave that life for you. And what did he do? He killed your chance at peace."

She shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "No...no, he wouldn't..."

"Wouldn't he?" Taehyung pressed, his voice almost cruel now. "Think, Nari. Think about all the questions you asked him, all the things he refused to tell you. Why would he keep you in the dark if he had nothing to hide?"

Her mind spiraled, memories flashing before her eyes. She had asked Jungkook so many questions, desperate for answers, but he had always evaded them.

"I don't believe you," she whispered, though her voice lacked conviction.

Taehyung leaned closer, his lips brushing against her ear. "Then why do you look like you're breaking, little bird?"

Her body trembled against his, her tears soaking into his shirt. He traced his thumb along her jawline, his touch featherlight yet possessive.
