The room was eerily silent, save for the faint dripping of water in the distance. Nari's head pounded as her eyes fluttered open, the dim light casting long shadows on the damp walls. The coldness of the chains around her wrists reminded her that this wasn't a dream-it was a waking nightmare.
She blinked, adjusting to the dim glow, and froze. The man who had been chained beside her was now alarmingly close. His face was just inches away, his head tilted as if studying her. The plastic bag that had once covered his face was now gone, revealing only a portion of his features under the shadows of the dim light.
"Ah!" Nari screamed, her voice breaking through the suffocating silence as she instinctively tried to move back, but the chains held her in place. Her heart pounded violently in her chest, and her breathing came in short, sharp gasps.
"Quiet," the man said, his voice low but firm, with an edge that sent shivers down her spine. "Do you want them to come back?"
She stared at him, wide-eyed and trembling. There was something unhinged in his expression, something that made her skin crawl. He reached out, his hand hovering near her face, and she flinched.
"Don't touch me!" she hissed, her voice trembling with fear and anger.
But he didn't listen. His hand moved closer, his fingers brushing a strand of her hair away from her face. "You don't understand," he murmured, his voice almost a whisper. "You're important to them. To him. But to me..." His lips curled into a sinister smile. "You're a mystery I want to unravel."
Nari clenched her teeth, yanking against the chains with all her might. "Stay away from me!" she spat, her voice rising despite the warning he had given.
The man leaned closer, his breath warm against her cheek. "You're feisty," he said, his tone laced with amusement. "I like that."
The room seemed to grow darker, the air thicker, as his hand moved to cup her jaw. Nari's stomach churned with a mixture of fear and rage. Every fiber of her being screamed at her to fight back, but the chains rendered her powerless.
"You're scared," the man said, his thumb brushing lightly against her cheek. "Good. Fear keeps you alive in places like this."
Before she could respond, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside the room, heavy and deliberate. The man's expression shifted, his amusement replaced by something colder. He pulled back, straightening and turning toward the door as if preparing for whoever-or whatever-was coming.
Nari's breath hitched as the door creaked open, the light from the hallway spilling into the room. The silhouette of the masked kidnapper appeared, his presence as menacing as ever. He stepped inside, his gaze flicking between Nari and the man, and a low chuckle escaped his lips.
"Well, isn't this cozy?" he said, his tone dripping with mockery.
The man beside Nari didn't respond, his posture tense and ready.
The masked figure tilted his head, stepping closer. "You're getting too comfortable," he said, addressing the man. "That's not part of the plan."
The man's jaw tightened, but he said nothing.
The masked figure's attention shifted to Nari, and his eyes gleamed with sadistic delight. "And you," he said, crouching in front of her. "You look scared. Good. You should be."
He reached out, grabbing her chin roughly, forcing her to meet his gaze. "You're just a pawn, little girl," he said, his voice cold and devoid of empathy. "And pawns don't get to choose their fate."
