Chapter 24

Three days of hunting and enjoying his freedom had now come to an end as Klaus woke up in a field. The man was happy with himself and the Bennett coven after all his curse was broken and now his anger had lessened. To his surprise opposite him stood a girl he did not recognise she was dressed in a pink body top with black cargo pants and boots. Hanging on her shoulders with a black leather jacket with the Bennett crest on the back in pink.

The girl lowered his head a little giving him a nod of respect before handing him some clothing "From the Coven head" Hearing her words Klaus smiled and quickly got dressed. "Thank you, little witch may I ask, what you are called" The girl glanced up at Klaus and that was when he saw a pink diamond choker around her neck.

"Ah you must be Seren" The girl glanced at Klaus and nodded "Yes most only remember us by our public titles" Klaus smirked and walked over to the girl "Yes but I listen to my Empress when she talks. She is very proud of you"

Seren smiled a bit before staring out at the field "It's time to go home" Klaus nodded and offered the young girl his hand "Hold on tight little one" Seren nodded and used her magic to stick to Klaus as he ran back to the coven house. Once they arrived Seren let him go and ran over to Braelyn who was waiting on the front porch in a business suit holding two steaming cups.

She handed Seren one of the cups and kissed her head "Good job, I left a new grimoire for you on your bed" Seren nodded and left the two alone. Braelyn handed Klaus the other cup "Our fae queen was worried" Klaus took a sip from the coffee smiling when he tasted the traditionally brewed coffee.

"Where is our little fae?" Braelyn smirked and gestured to the house Klaus wrapped an arm around her waist before the two walked in. Caroline sat braiding Zahra's hair while the woman was carefully working on a tapestry piece. The blonde did not look away from her work but smiled "Welcome back my wolf" was all the girl said as Klaus leaned over to kiss her head. Zahra briefly stopped her tapestry work and raised her hand "Klaus stand in front of me please"

The Hybrid smirked but decided to humour the witch and follow her order, to his surprise Braelyn did not look amused "Zahra what do you see?" There was a silence before Zahra spoke "He has another living sibling and a maternal aunt both are alive and witches. As for his father, he is an Alpha in his own right he is werewolf royalty"

Klaus felt his smirk fade before he looked at Braelyn "Is this the gift you said manifested?" Braelyn nodded "Yes Zahra-Rose can see bloodline and compatibility. Most use it as a matchmaking gift" Klaus now looked at Zahra who seemed to be studying him "Her name is Freya" Suddenly Klaus felt his heart drop.

"According to our mother, she is dead, but I guess that was a lie" The Bennetts in the house looked at the man with sympathy "It isn't your fault" Klaus nodded and sat on the couch beside Braelyn. Elion looked at the triad and smirked "I assumed that Caroline would have been the focus of your triad, but it seems Braelyn is"

Caroline and Klaus both nodded before stating in sync "Of course she is our Empress" Zion who was playing chess with Oryn looked up and snickered. "Damn, I pray for the fool that disrespects you Braelyn" The rest of the Bennett coven flooded into the living room to join the discussion when someone knocked on the door.

Braelyn barely glanced at the door but inclined her head allowing anyone to answer. Diora rose from her seat and opened the door. Outside the door stood Liz Forbes, unfortunately, the woman did not recognize Diora. "Hello, Sheriff please come in" Liz entered the house and paused when she saw the many unfamiliar faces. 

She noticed the portrait in the centre of the room and deduced that these were all the Bennetts who had attended the funeral when Shelia died. "Is Braelyn here?" she asked now feeling like she intruded especially when she noticed her daughter sitting and braiding another woman's hair.

"I am" Liz turned to see Braelyn in between her daughter and a man she did not recognise the woman was dressed in one of her business suits with a cup of what she assumed was coffee. "Rudy would like to know where his daughter is"

She noticed how immediately the atmosphere grew tense at Rudy's name while a few people rolled their eyes. Braelyn however leaned forward "That is no longer his concern after all he lost custody".

Liz felt her eyes widen she had no idea that Bonnie was now under Braleyn's care before she could question the woman the front door opened, and Bonnie walked in. She was glowing and seemed even more confident than the years before. "Oh hi, Sheriff" was all Bonnie said once she saw her friend's mother.

Liz blinked once she saw Bonnie the girl's hair was no longer flat ironed and messy instead it was styled into multiple braids that hung down to her waist. The clothing that Elena normally filled Bonnie's closet with was gone. Liz never knew that Bonnie had freckles until now and once again the woman could not help but think Bonnie looked different. As the woman thought about it, she had not seen Bonnie in nearly a year.

Since Bonnie had found out the truth about her parents Liz hadn't seen the girl now in Braelyn's care she glowed. It was annoying to her that since Braelyn came to town everything had gone to hell. Her daughter had not spoken to her in months instead she spent more time at the Bennett home. 

Occasionally she spent time with Jenna and Jeremy. Several people had started moving out of the area surrounding Shelia's house and Braelyn had managed to buy them somehow. Even the school curriculum had changed due to Elion Bennett calling it mediocre. Everything had changed.

Liz just nodded and left the house silently while Bonnie went to greet the other family in the house. Caroline finally spoke "She is pissed" Klaus nodded in agreement "I could smell her annoyance" Hearing that Braelyn frowned.

Turning to Lucy she nodded "Find out what she plans to do" Lucy smirked and nodded before leaving the room. Braelyn did not care that Liz was Caroline's mother if she proved to be a problem for their plans, she would remove them.

"Oh, I nearly forgot, it's time to wake Elijah" For the first time in days Klaus remembered that his mate had kidnapped his brother "Do we have to" the man mumbled as the other Bennetts started laughing at his reaction.
