DEV POV
Aarohi... missing. This can’t be happening.
I vividly remembered instructing Gabriel to follow Rose, to ensure her safety—what were they doing when this happened? My mind raced with fury and confusion as I quickly dressed, with no time for hesitation. I rushed to the hospital, my thoughts spinning in the whirlwind of uncertainty and dread. The suddenness of it all felt like a punch to the gut.
When I arrived, Gabriel and one of our men were standing by the hospital bed. My heart slammed against my chest as I caught sight of a pair of feet under the sheets. My pulse quickened—every step I took toward the bed felt heavier as if the weight of the world was crushing my chest. I wasn't ready for this. My mind swirled with terrifying thoughts, each one more unbearable than the last. Could it be her? Could my Rose be hurt?
The closer I got, the more my thoughts darkened, the possibility that she was lying there, injured, slicing through my defences like a jagged blade.
As Tara’s face came into view, my heart gave a brief sigh of relief—it wasn’t Rose. But that relief was fleeting, soon replaced by a gnawing dread. Where was Rose? What had happened in the few short hours since the ceremony? Tara, unconscious on the hospital bed, was a silent witness to a nightmare unfolding, and I was still in the dark.
I stormed toward Gabriel, my fury barely contained. In an instant, I had him pinned against the wall, my hand tightening around his neck. My voice came out low, deadly, as I demanded, "What happened?" Gabriel's face paled, his breath catching as he struggled against my grip.
"I—I don’t—" His words stumbled, fear choking his voice.
I forced myself to breathe, to rein in the storm of emotions surging inside me. This wasn’t the time to lose control. If I wanted to find Rose, I needed answers. Slowly, I loosened my hold, my voice cutting through the silence like a blade. "Now. Tell me everything."
No more wasted time. Every second was a step further from finding her, and I wasn’t about to let that happen.
Gabriel’s words cut through me like shards of glass. "Two men... dragging her to a car... Tara was left behind on the road." My mind raced, each new piece of information tightening the knot in my chest. This wasn’t just some random abduction for ransom. No—there was something far more sinister at play.
I snapped out of my thoughts, locking eyes with Gabriel. "Where’s Rose’s phone?" I demanded. He looked down, recalling the scene with a furrowed brow before he whispered, "Sir... it wasn’t at the scene."
My hand shot to my phone, dialling Aman. As soon as he picked up, I didn’t waste a second. "Aman, I need you to track Rose. Now." My voice was sharp, tension lacing every word. I wasn’t about to wait around, helpless. Every moment felt like sand slipping through an hourglass, and I couldn’t afford to lose her.
Rose was out there, and I would tear the world apart to bring her back.
As I was about to rush to the scene, a faint noise stopped me in my tracks—Tara was regaining consciousness. I moved toward her, desperate for answers, as her eyes flickered open, still blazing with fury. "Did you find anything about Ruhi?" she asked, her voice sharp, cutting through the silence. I stared at her, confusion settling in for a moment before I realized she meant Rose.
"To find her, I need you to tell me exactly what happened," I responded, my tone firm, though inside, I was hoping for anything—any clue that could lead me to Rose.
She took a deep breath, her memory piecing itself together. "There was a car, parked in the middle of the road. The driver got out to check, but he was ambushed by a man. Rose and I stepped out to help, but before I could react, someone hit me from behind... and I lost consciousness." Her voice faltered, but she continued, "But before everything went black, I saw them... dragging her... Ruhi."
