Dev POVGlancing at the clock, I realized it was well beyond her usual departure time, my mind wandering back to the moment she casually mentioned having prior commitments. Memories of our shared experiences flooded my thoughts, tinged with a growing sense of apprehension. Suddenly, Aman stormed into my office, his expression a mix of urgency and determination.
"I managed to unlock the phone you retrieved yesterday," he declared, stepping forward and presenting the device in question. I vividly recalled the swift action of grabbing the phone when it had slipped from Khurana's grip.
Aman proceeded, "I highly doubt this is the device he uses for his underground activities. It appears to be filled with schedules of company meetings and official notifications. Nothing suspicious has surfaced so far." Handing over the phone, a hint of frustration coloured his voice. As I skimmed through the call logs, only a handful of numbers caught my attention. "Trace the most frequently contacted number," I instructed, prompting Aman to acknowledge before exiting the room.
As he neared the door, Aman paused, pivoting back to inquire, "What have you done with Advik?"
His inquiry hit me like a bolt of lightning. My thoughts drifted back to the moment Gabriel divulged the harrowing details of Advik's relentless torment, his spirit shattered beyond repair. The memory of Gabriel's ominous words echoed in my mind, he is beyond salvation. For even contemplating harm against Rose, he deserved nothing but the harshest retribution.
In the wake of receiving a notification on my phone, Aarohi's message flashed across the screen:
Aarohi: Could you pick me up from the university?
Without a moment's hesitation, I swiftly donned my coat and ventured outside. Upon reaching her university, I spotted her patiently waiting at the street corner. A flicker of puzzlement crossed my mind, I had already arranged for the driver to be there in case she needed a ride somewhere.
As she settled into the car, she disclosed, "The driver was here, but I requested him to leave. I wished to ride back with you." Her revelation elicited a smile from me as I whispered, "So, where shall we head first?" Her response carried a playful tone, "Home first, then off to our date?" I chuckled softly, recalling her prior indication of being unable to make it for our planned outing.
Throughout the journey, I stole glances at her, noting the gleam in her eyes and the lingering soft smile. Clearly, something significant had occurred. "How was your day at university?" I inquired, eager to discern the source of her newfound radiance.
Her smile wavered, giving way to a look of tension and unease as she recounted the day's events at the university. The mood shifted, yet I remained attentive. By the time we reached home, the hour was late, and thoughts about our impending date destination started to take shape in my mind.
As she paused at her room's entrance, I inquired, "And where would you like to go?"
Her eyes lit up with excitement as she smiled. "I have a specific place in mind. Get ready, and I'll lead the way." Intrigued, my mind raced with anticipation, considering the possibilities of where she might be planning to take us for the evening.
I knocked on her door, anticipating a night out that called for dressing up. However, upon her opening the door, I was taken aback. She sported a casual pair of pants and a top, a far cry from what I had imagined. My brows furrowed in confusion. "Aren't we heading somewhere fancy?" I questioned, glancing down at my formal attire.
Her mischievous smile hinted at her delight in my perplexity. "Oh, I forgot to mention, no need for formals tonight," she disclosed, eyeing my outfit. Before I could respond, she handed me a casual T-shirt and pants. "Here, put these on."
