"Hey Kylie, do you want a drink?"

"I'm okay, thanks. I have to drive home."

Truth is, I really do want a drink, but I don't want to be drunk around all of these random people. Of course I've seen them around school before, Beacon Hills High School is a small school, but I don't trust them yet.

"Ky, you seem really tense, do you want to take a walk?" asked Brian.

"Sure."

Brian invited me to this little campfire in the woods. I wasn't planning on coming, but my older sister Jax begged me to get out of the house. I've been in Beacon Hills for two months and my best friends are still my sisters, Jax and Emily.

I got up and started to follow Brian into the forest. I've been around the forest a couple of times for a jog, but never at night and certainly not with another person.

"Are you cold?" asked Brian.

"Yeah just a little bit. I didn't realize how warm I was by the fire."

"Here, take my jacket." I nodded and accepted his jacket that he extended towards me.

"So, do you like Beacon Hills so far?"

I sighed, "It's really beautiful and I like the small community, I'm just having a hard time finding my place."

"I get it. You can always come to me if you need anything."

"Thanks." I was really grateful that someone had asked me to do something, but I just didn't feel like these were MY people, you know?

Brian paused near a really large tree, far enough away from the fire that I could barely hear the other people who were talking obnoxiously loud. Yeah, definitely not my kind of people.

"You look really beautiful tonight. Especially in my jacket." said Brian.

"Oh, thanks. That's really sweet of you." I replied.

"What do you say we ditch everyone and find somewhere more private?" asked Brian.

Oh, well that's really bold. "Uh, I'm not sure that's a good idea. You've had quite a lot to drink."

"Oh, come on, am I not good looking enough for you? You probably prefer pretty, preppy boys like Jackson, right?" He groaned. "God, you're probably just like the rest of them hoping you 'take a ride in his Porsche'." Brian said, sounding like he was losing his patience.

"Excuse you?" I retorted.

"You know, I can do so much more for you than they ever could. Girls have told me I'm amazing in bed." Brian started to walk towards me. I began backing up, but found myself pinned against a tree. He put his arms on either side of me. My heart started to race and it was becoming harder to breathe, oh god, please no, please don't let this happen.

"Brian, I think you've had too much to drink and I'm really uncomfortable, can we please just go back?"

Brian lowered his mouth to my ear and started to touch my stomach. He reeked of alcohol and his hand was inching lower, and lower. I don't know why but I froze.

"I can make you feel really good." He said. I couldn't move. God, please help me, this can't be happening. What am I going to do? What am I-

"Is everything okay over here?" someone said from behind Brian.

Brian turned to face the voice. "Yeah man, we're just having a little bit of fun." Fun, my ass.

"Are you sure she's having fun?" the man asked.

"Listen dude, can you just back off? I'm having some fun with this girl, we'd like to be alone."

"Would you like to go?" the man asked me. I nodded in reply and slowly walked away from Brian. I grabbed the man's arm, when did I start shaking?

Brian huffed then said, "Bitch."

This mysterious man turned around like he was about to start a fight with Brian. "No, please, can you just walk me to my car?" I begged. He hesitated then nodded and lead me away. Brian wasn't scrawny by any means, but he had nothing on this random guy. His arm muscles were solid where I was holding onto his arm.

We were quiet for some time before he asked me, "Are you okay?"

"I think so. I don't know why I just froze and I couldn't move." I replied.

"Do you know him?" he asked.

"Not really. I mean, he invited me here, but I've only talked to him once or twice before tonight."

He nodded, but didn't reply.

"Thank you so much for helping me." I said. I looked up into his eyes. How can someone's eyes be that green? "I always thought if something like that would happen I would know what to do, but I guess I was wrong."

"Don't doubt yourself just because some guy was being a creep and can't take no for an answer."

I nodded and took some deep breaths. "I'm Kylie, by the way."

"Derek."

"Well again, thank you. This is my car." I said as I grabbed my keys.

"No problem. Just try to stay out of these woods at night. Nothing good ever happens here at night." Derek said.

I nodded and started to open my car door. I turned around, and I don't know why, but I leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. "Goodnight" I said.

"Goodnight." said Derek.

I realized my heart was still beating fast, but now for a completely different reason.
