The next day, Lydia asked me to come over after school to try and help her work through the markings. At lunch, we filled Scott, Allison, and Stiles in on what we found.

"That house is like an epicenter for evil things." Stiles stated.

Well, at least one good thing came from it.

Derek and I haven't informed my friends that we're together yet. It wasn't that we didn't want to tell them, but we thought about what might happen if any potential threats heard of it. Peter figured out what I was, so I'm sure others have heard. There's already a target on my back that puts my sisters and all of my friends in danger, but if someone knew that Derek and I were together... I don't even want to know what might happen to him.

"Was there anything special about this person that would make them useful to a sacrifice?" Allison asked.

"I couldn't tell. Once someone is dead, they're just a spirit, they have no powers. All we could tell was that it was a girl in her mid-twenties, early thirties." replied Lydia.

Stiles sighed, "Well, I'm sure I can get information from the morgue once my dad figures it out."

Lydia and I looked at each other with wide eyes. Stiles noticed and looked between us, "Oh, don't tell me none of you thought it would be a good idea to call the police to report a body."

Fuck.

"We weren't thinking. After we read what was etched at the top of the stairs, we were focused on trying to prevent it from happening again." I said, trying to defend our actions.

Stiles rolled his eyes, "Well, excuse me, I have to call and give an anonymous tip to the police so that we can figure out who this girl is... idiots." Stiles huffed out as he walked out of the cafeteria.

-------------

Lydia took me to her house once school was over. There were ancient looking papers scattered all around her room, most of them in a language I couldn't understand.

"So, I think I figured out what the markings meant. It's like a symbol to signify the sacrifices purpose. The ones we saw, I'm assuming, are to specifically summon this unknown figure the writing mentioned."

"What could they be trying to summon?" I asked.

"I really don't know. I was up all night trying to find something, but there are so many different things it could be. But, what I did find was that only banshees can perform this. That's why I've been feeling so off." Lydia said, worryingly.

Even if we don't know what it is, we can't keep letting these sacrifices happen.

My phone buzzed in my pocket. It was Stiles.

Stiles:

I figured out who the girl was, no thanks to you. Her name is Hannah Franklin.

I ran over to Lydia's computer and typed in the name.

"Stiles just sent me the name of the girl, it's Hannah Franklin."

Suddenly, Lydia stumbled back and fell on the floor.

"Lydia, what's wrong?" I said as I knelt down beside her.

She didn't answer, she looked like she was on another planet. Her eyes were moving so fast, I thought she was having a seizure.

I was about to heal her, but she jumped up before I could even try.

"Tell me what just happened." I demanded.

"That girl, she was a werewolf. A true alpha. She- she talked to me. She said she couldn't say much before it got her, but we need to do something before the ritual is completed." She paused, then looked up at me. "She said I would need to search for purple eyes."

I sat back and brought my hand to my mouth. Me? I know nothing about any of this. Then, I thought about what Derek had said earlier. About Lydia and I being more similar than we thought.

"Lydia, you said you felt me at the Hale house yesterday. How?"

She thought for a moment, "I don't know. I just knew you were there." She paused to think, then I could visibly see her idea come to her.

"Give me your hands." she ordered.

I place my hands on top of hers and she held them. She looked like she was searching for something in her mind. I stayed still because I had no fucking idea what she was trying to do.

My eyes started to glow. She held my hands tighter. Then, it felt like something had slipped into my mind. It ran around searching. For what, exactly? I have no idea. It was uncomfortable, like someone was invading your privacy, but twenty times worse. Was it seeing everything I've seen? Was it trying to find my secrets?

I felt whatever presence that was in my mind leave and Lydia let go of my hands and stared at me.

"You have a connection to the spirit realm. The place where the dead are not quite dead. You've been there?"

"I- I guess? I'm not sure." I replied.

Lydia scratched his head, then said "Your guides, what are they?"

"They told me that they are my ancestors."

Lydia immediately stood up, "I think you may be able to figure out what this is with my help."

------------

Lydia and I had discussed what we planned to do and we filled everyone else in.

I was going to the spirit realm to see what evil lurked there.

Because my guides only came to me in my dreams, we were going to lower my heart rate enough that I could stay there for an extended period of time. My guides were spirits of past Lunas, they were in some part of the realm. Then, I will search the realm to try and find answers.

What everyone hated was that I would be there alone.

"Absolutely not. We don't know how things work there. What if something happens and we can't get her back?" said Derek.

"I won't let that happen." replied Lydia. "I can feel where she goes, I can sense if something is wrong. Most spirits are not evil, they just can't move on."

"How do you even know it will work?" asked Scott.

"We don't, but we need to try. If they complete the rituals, we don't know what we're up against. We just need to find answers and nobody else has come up with anything useful." I replied.

"I'm going to look into this more and see if there's anything else we need to do. I'll let you all know when we're ready." Lydia added, then she grabbed her things and left Derek's apartment.

"Kylie, I always thought you were smart, but right now, I'm starting to have some doubts." said Stiles.

I rolled my eyes, "Thanks."

Allison approached me, "What I think he's trying to say, is that we're all worried this could go very wrong. We would just rather try to think of something else before you commit to this."

"I appreciate your concern, but we need to get on top of this. If nobody can come up with a different plan by Sunday, Lydia and I are doing this. With or without all of you."
