About 3 weeks had passed since the full moon. Derek, Allison, and Scott were all trying to figure out what my purples eyes signified. So, needless to say, I haven't seen them much. On the bright side, I was getting to know Stiles a lot more.

"So wait, Jackson moved to England because he was under the control of Allison's grandfather and then had to be killed to break the bond. What did you say he turned into again?"

"A Kanima. You should've seen it, Kylie. If you thought Peter Hale was terrifying, I think you'd need to go to a psych ward after you saw Jackson." explained Stiles.

My head started to spin so I decided that was enough questions about Jackson for now. "Have you heard anything from them?" I questioned. I hated to admit, but I was really starting to miss everyone; well, more specifically, one person.

"They called me earlier and said they had found a lead. Scott and Derek are off trying to find out more right now."

I nodded. I couldn't understand why all of these people were working so diligently to figure out what I was. The two conclusions I have come up with is 1. they really care about me or 2. they are terrified of what this might mean.

To get that train of thought out of my mind, I asked Stiles, "Are you going with anyone to formal on Friday?"

"No, I don't even know if I'm going."

"Oh come on, it should be fun. Why don't you ask Lydia, I don't think she's going with anyone."

Stiles looked at me and had a shocked expression on his face.

"What? Why would I ever want to go with Lydia? Pffft, I mean come on, Ky."

"Stiles, I'm not an idiot, I see the way you look at her."

"Well, I don't think she looks at me that way."

"Have you ever tried?" I know Stiles may not be what Lydia was used to, but I genuinely think that Stiles may be exactly what she needs.

Stiles shook his head then started to think about it intently. Luckily for him, the bell rang before I could question him any further and we went on our way to our next class.

The next time I heard from Derek was on Friday and he informed me that they had found a Druid who knew something about a purple-eyed werewolf. But, she was very old and had dementia. Needless to say, it was hard to get any answers out of her.

I tried not to think too much about it, so I started to get ready for formal.

Even though my other schools had formals in the past, I never really had any interest in going. Now, I kind of just wanted an excuse to dress up and have some fun.

Last week, Lydia and I went dress shopping and found the most perfect sage green dress for me to wear. It was fitted to the waist, then went with lovely lace designs. Then, the satin bottom flowed out, just a little, to my knees. I paired the dress with a white pair of heels that had bows directly behind my achilles tendon and a white Coach shoulder bag that Jax had let me borrow for the night.

I braided some pieces of my blonde hair that cascaded back into a bun. I did my makeup to look natural, but added some eyeliner to accentuate my blue eyes more.

"Oh my god, Ky, you look stunning." exclaimed Jax as I descended the stairs. Emily had already left with some of her friends to get ready, so Jax was going to give me a ride to the school.

"Aw thanks, Jax."

"Let me take some pictures of you in front of the fireplace and then we'll leave, okay?"

Jax proceeded to snap a few photos that I knew she would share on Facebook when I left. Then, I walked towards the door and opened it.

What I was not expecting to be outside my door, looking like he was just about to knock, was Derek Hale.

"Oh." I said, not knowing how to approach his unexpected visit.

He looked at me from head to toe, then back up into my eyes. Neither of us knew what to say.

"Ky, who is it, oh, hello Derek! What are you doing here?" Jax asked as she gave me a side-eye that screamed 'I know you like him'.

"Oh, uh, I-"

"He just offered to give me a ride to formal." I stated.

Derek looked at me for a second, confused, then eventually understood what I was doing.

"Yes, that's why I came here."

"Oh, that's wonderful! I was scared I was going to be late to meet up with my friends anyways, thank you so much, Derek." Jax was lying through her teeth. "Have so much fun, Ky, and send lots of pictures!"

I walked out the door and Derek offered me his arm as he lead me to his car.

------------

"Any updates with the druid?" I asked to break the awful silence that was filling Derek's car.

"Not yet, she started speaking in some weird, ancient language. Lydia and Allison are going to try to figure out what it means tomorrow."

Right, I forgot Lydia was a banshee and could somehow understand things like that.

"Do you think it's anything bad?"

"I think if it was bad, something would've happened by now."

I guess he's right. Part of me wanted to know what this was as soon as possible so I can control it. The other part of me just wanted a night to forget about everything going on.

Derek pulled into the school parking lot, but far enough away that no one would be suspicious of seeing me with him. I went to open the door, but before I could even think, Derek was already there opening it for me and offering me his hand.

"Oh, thank you."

"Try not to worry about it for tonight, just be a teen-" he thought for a moment, "-just be a 20 year old at a high school formal." he ended with a smile.

I nodded. I noticed that he was still holding my hand, why was he still holding my hand? Before I could stop myself, I reached up and kissed him on the cheek... again.

I started to walk towards the school, but he grabbed my arm and I stumbled back right into his chest.

I looked up and met his gaze and realized how close we were standing.

"You look really beautiful, Kylie."

Why were my legs shaking?

He reached his hands towards my face and moved some lose hairs away from it. His hands then cupped my cheeks as he continued to gaze into my eyes.

He started to inch closer to my face still looking into my eyes, like he was trying to look for any sign that told him to stop, but he wouldn't find such a sign.

His lips met mine for just a second, before he pulled away and began looking intently at me once again.

We stood there in the parking lot for a few seconds, feeling like the world had stopped before I grabbed his shirt and pulled him back in.

The first peck was gentle and sweet. Almost like he was testing the waters. This kiss was so much more. It was yearning, it was need to feel each other, to know each other. The wave of tension that I felt between us suddenly up and disappeared as he wrapped his arms around my waist and my hands found a way up to his neck.

We stayed like this for about two minutes, him trying to map out of the curves and bumps of my mouth with his tongue, before we both pulled away. I was speechless, so all I could do was smile.

Derek smiled back and sort of laughed to himself. I started backing away, letting my hand slip from his fingers, and turned towards the entrance of the school.

I suddenly found myself not wanting to go into this formal at all, and I would've turned back around, if I hadn't promised my friends I would be here.
