Ignoring it and hoping it would go away would be so much better than this.

Derek was trying to teach me the basics of fighting. This was kind of like normal fighting, except for the fact that the opponents could be faster, stronger, and have canines and fangs.

Scott would sometimes help with training. I finally started talking to all of them again once I processed everything. They didn't force me to do anything, but let me come to terms on my own time.

A lot of training also had to do with trying to help me shift. I kept being told "Find something to get you angry." then "Find something that calms you down." I couldn't even get my eyes to glow a different color.

I also found out what was behind the locked door in Derek's apartment: the training room.

"The full moon is tomorrow and you haven't even had any signs of progress in terms of shifting."

"Derek, I know, it's not as if you don't tell me every 10 fucking minutes."

Derek also knows exactly how to piss me off, but not enough to make me shift.

"Let's go back to learning how to fight, I want you to try and take me down." said Derek.

"That's a big jump from just hitting a punching bag." I replied.

"Just try."

I lunged forward with my arms outstretch expecting to take him down, but suddenly I was flying across the room and into a wall.

"Prick." I said through my teeth.

"It's never going to be that easy against an actual opponent. You have to use their weaknesses and your surroundings to your advantage."

Okay, I looked around me and saw a table and a wall pretty close by. I also noticed from Derek training me that he sometimes leaves his left side open.

I lunged forward again, but this time I acted as if I was going straight towards him. When Derek reached out to throw me again, I dodged to the left, kneed him in his left side, grabbed his left arm and flipped him onto the ground.

Unfortunately, I also came tumbling down on top of him.

"That was good, just try not to lose your footing next time." Derek said.

"That was good? That's all I get? I did that on the second try and all I get is 'That's good'?"

"Fine, that was above average for a beta."

"Oh my god, Derek Hale complimented me! Is the world ending? Are you dying?" I said laughing.

Derek started laughing with me. I don't think I've ever seen him laugh.

We both stopped laughing and just kind of stayed like this for a moment, enjoying it. Then I realized I was still on top of him.

I cleared my throat, then helped him get up. There was an awkward silence because I don't think either of us knew what to say.

"Are you hungry?" I asked.

---------------

Derek barely had anything of use in his fridge, so I made him run to the store to get more ingredients while I started making something. I convinced him by saying:

"I can deal with your lack of decor, however, this damn near empty fridge may be one of the saddest and unsettling things I have ever seen."

When he returned, he asked, "What are you going to make?"

"It's a surprise. Trust me, you'll like it."

After 45 minutes of prep, cooking, and Derek bitching about how long I was taking, it was finally done.

"A pizza? Really?" Derek looked at me like I was crazy.

"Everyone likes pizza and its fresh."

Derek raised an eyebrow and took a bite.

"So?" I anticipated an answer.

"I'll give it to you, this is one of the best pizza's I've ever had." He said, surprisingly.

"Two compliments in one day, oh you're definitely dying. This is the best day ever!" I started to act obnoxiously running around and jumping.

I think I got so caught up in making a fool of myself, I didn't even think twice when I wrapped my arms around him from behind and kissed him on the cheek.

I tried to play it off like it was nothing, but I could tell Derek was slightly taken aback by it.

The next thing I know, Derek pulls me back and pushes me up against the refrigerator. He put one hand over my head and said,

"You know you're playing a dangerous game here, Ky. Don't act like nothing just happened."

I was so stunned. I tried to say something, but I was left with nothing. Satisfied, Derek walked away smiling and laughing to himself.

Oh, so that's how it is? Two can play at that game.
