Yan Jue watched as Chu Fu's figure disappeared into the pine forest, letting out a sigh of relief and turning to Qi Xianqing with a smile. "It's done."

Suddenly, she felt a weight on her wrist.

Qi Xianqing raised her hand and grasped Yan Jue's wrist.

Qi Xianqing had very high cultivation, but when she wasn't exerting herself, her entire body felt soft. A spirit being that naturally attracted demons, she actually had a lightning root that specialized in countering all kinds of evil. Her fingertips were icy cold.

Yan Jue heard her softly ask, "Can I let go now?"

Out of the corner of her eye, Yan Jue suddenly caught sight of the cold pond over there.

It was a cloudy day, and the surface of the lake was hazy.

Half of the ghost fireflies she had released earlier were chasing after Chu Fu, while the other half floated on the surface of the cold pond.

Yan Jue's gaze shifted, and she suddenly let go. "Senior Sister, look!"

Qi Xianqing was taken aback for a moment, then followed Yan Jue's gaze.

The ghost fireflies had unknowingly turned a brilliant blue, resembling ordinary fireflies.

The sparkling blue flickered in the wind, like stars twinkling in the deep night sky.

Yan Jue asked, "Isn't it beautiful?"

Qi Xianqing paused slightly. "Did you raise them?"

Yan Jue replied, "Mhm."

It seemed she had no secrets in front of Qi Xianqing. Perhaps it was because she had spent so long as a little fox with her, Yan Jue felt it was safe to share secrets with Qi Xianqing.

Qi Xianqing gazed at the shimmering star-like lights by the lake, her eyes revealing a hint of softness. She cleared her throat. "It's alright."

"Quite beautiful."

Ever since she had driven Chu Fu away that day by the cold pond, Yan Jue had taken to releasing a few ghost fireflies to patrol the lake's edge.

While it wasn't great to constantly draw hatred from the male lead, since she had already been hated, she might as well continue without holding back.

Yan Jue released exactly seven ghost fireflies.

She spent her days immersed in the scripture pavilion, thoroughly researching various formations in this world.

Seven ghost fireflies were just enough to form the Big Dipper formation, creating a small heavenly thunder array with considerable power.

Given Chu Fu's current cultivation level, he couldn't withstand the attack of the thunder array.

As expected, Chu Fu never showed up again.

Yan Jue practiced her skills by the cold pond, and whenever she had free time, she would run to the scripture pavilion to absorb knowledge.

One day, the north wind howled.

While Yan Jue was curled up in her blanket reading, she suddenly heard a knock at the door.

When she opened it, her neighbor, Du Ming, with her slightly chubby baby face, appeared before her.

Du Ming was a member of the Kongqing faction, and recently, every time she came to chat with Yan Jue, she would bring her a copy of the latest "Five Dragons and a Hundred Things Chronicle."
