The man in black was finally dead.

The combined power of Liubing and Zhuying, the twin righteous swords, was immense. Already drenched in the dark aura of bloodshed, the man had no chance against the swords' final strike.

Yan Jue gripped Liubing tightly, still somewhat in disbelief.

The man's cold body lay on the beach.

Qing Xianqing glanced at Yan Jue and said, "Go ahead."

Yan Jue blinked in surprise. "Go ahead with what?"

Qing Xianqing gave her a light nudge. "Isn't it your habit to search the bodies?"

Yan Jue rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath before stepping forward to examine the man's cloak.

Once she removed it, she saw only an ordinary face—rough and unkempt.

She frowned, digging through the cloak until her fingers brushed something cold.

Drawing it out, she found a broken bone flute, its tip adorned with a faded pink ribbon.

The flute seemed vaguely familiar, as though she'd seen one like it before.

She reached back into the cloak and retrieved another item—a gourd.

Yan Jue shook it, listening to the clear rattle inside, then removed the cap to reveal a handful of pale yellow pills. Unsure of their purpose, she passed it to Qing Xianqing, who sniffed it thoughtfully.

Yan Jue continued her search and pulled out a small, black pearl, cool to the touch and faintly glimmering in the moonlight.

She narrowed her eyes. It seemed to resemble...

She recalled that the last pearl she'd received from Bai Ying had been an ice-blue thunder ward pearl. This black one glinted with the same luster as the one Bai Ying had given her.

Qing Xianqing, who had been scanning the area, suddenly noticed her. "What's that?" Yan Jue asked, handing her the pearl.

Qing Xianqing turned it over, observing carefully. "A water ward pearl."

Yan Jue was taken aback.

She took out her thunder ward pearl, the one that had once saved her life. Side by side, the two pearls looked identical, one ice-blue, the other jet black.

"What's it for?" she asked.

Qing Xianqing explained, "Cultivators can't move freely underwater. Even with protective shields formed from true energy, they would run out of energy eventually and drown."

"With this pearl, you can invoke the Immortal Art: Water Ward, which allows you to stay underwater indefinitely without using any energy, unlike regular water ward spells that only last half an hour."

Nodding, Yan Jue slipped the pearl into her storage bag and continued searching the man's body until her fingers brushed against something cold once more.

She pulled out a...crystal vial?

Shaking it, she heard a faint clinking sound, and upon opening it, found it filled with tiny pearls. Each one sparkled as though containing galaxies within.

She exchanged a glance with Qing Xianqing.

Shark pearls.

After dealing with the man in black, the two of them returned to the village.

Using her spiritual awareness, Qing Xianqing scanned the area. Aside from the man in black, it appeared that only ordinary people lived there.

Each household's backyard, however, held an identical array.
