Yan Jue sneezed, pretending she hadn't seen anything. "I'm tired; I'm going to sleep, brother."

She snuggled up beside Qi Xianqing, closed her eyes, and prepared to rest, conserving her energy for the arrival of tomorrow.

In the middle of the night, Yan Jue was awakened by a rustling sound.

She cracked her eyes open just a slit and was taken aback by the scene before her.

The dim light surrounded her, and all the children were sound asleep.

The quiet, blue-eyed girl was standing at the center of the children, but Yan Jue didn't know when she had arrived.

At first glance, the girl looked no older than five or six, but her icy blue eyes were frighteningly cold.

Beside her stood a gigantic tiger.

What's going on here?

Yan Jue instinctively glanced at Qi Xianqing.

Qi Xianqing's eyes were wide open, staring intently in that direction.

Yan Jue's gaze fell upon the large tiger, and she instantly recognized it—it was a Hu Pao (Tiger Beast).

Her pupils constricted in shock as memories of the day at the Wan Yao Pavilion flashed in her mind.

The Hu Pao was the mascot of the Beast Tamer Sect.

Could it be that she was...

The Hu Pao suddenly opened its mouth, which was already large enough, stretching into a cavernous maw.

Then it gently engulfed the children on the ground, one by one, swallowing all ten or more children whole.

The tiger's belly instantly became round and bulging.

Yan Jue tried to move, but her arm was held back by Qi Xianqing.

The girl then took a key from her sleeve and knelt down to unlock the door.

Suddenly, a calm voice spoke from behind her.

"Why didn't you rescue my siblings?"

The girl paused, startled.

A strikingly handsome young man sat calmly on a rock, dressed in a deep blue robe, exuding an otherworldly grace. His eyes were as tranquil as water, observing her quietly.

Meeting Qi Xianqing's gaze, the girl did not evade. She cupped her hands in salute and said, "Beast Tamer Sect, Xue Shuangxing."

Xue Shuangxing replied coldly, "I do not know your purpose here; I dare not act rashly."

"Ah, so it's you, Xue Dao-you," Qi Xianqing said as she jumped down from the rock and bowed deeply. "A few days ago, the Beast Tamer Sect just finished discussing important matters in the immortal gate. What brings you here today?"

No wonder she looked so familiar.

Yan Jue thought to herself, recognizing Xue Shuangxing as the woman she had seen at the Wan Yao Pavilion in Nanxing Town.

Just seeing her wasn't enough for Yan Jue to recognize her.

But with that massive Hu Pao by her side, it was impossible not to identify her.

What a coincidence.

Yan Jue couldn't help but feel puzzled. They had all been in the same cave for ten days. Did that large Hu Pao wait outside for her the entire time? How had it managed to come inside and join her?
