Yan Jue had no idea how long she had been unconscious.

When she woke up, she found herself lying in a dimly lit room.

The mattress beneath her was soft, and a distant incense burner was emitting swirling purple smoke.

Her last memory was of her struggling to retract her tail; at that moment, Qi Xianqing had come in with the Candle Shadow, launching an attack at Chu Fu with its dragon roar.

The two iron beads clinging to her body were likely some kind of controlling artifact. Exhausted and overwhelmed by the electric energy that Qi Xianqing had brought with her, Yan Jue had fainted from sheer fright.

Later, she woke up in a daze, vaguely feeling raindrops falling on her face.

Who was carrying her along the mountain path?

With great difficulty, Yan Jue opened her eyes, glanced around, and recognized that she was in Qi Xianqing's dormitory at the Zhenhuo Sect.

Her heart sank.

...

Yan Jue felt a burning sensation all over, and her lips were coated with glistening saliva.

Never mind.

This was Qi Xianqing's dormitory, so be it.

In her current state, she didn't have time to ponder what had happened.

She couldn't help but swallow, checking to confirm her tail hadn't fallen out again. After closing her eyes once more, she suddenly caught a familiar scent.

Qi Xianqing was sitting by the bed, bending down to unbutton her clothing, a serious expression on her face.

Yan Jue's neck was flushed with a warm peach-red hue, her throat undulating enticingly.

Qi Xianqing also noticed the two black copper beads stuck to Yan Jue's skin, roughly the size of marbles, dark all over with faint traces of gilding.

This seemed to be some extremely malevolent artifact, and it couldn't be removed.

Yan Jue closed her eyes, her consciousness gradually fading.

Qi Xianqing's voice came from above her: "These two artifacts need to be removed."

"It might hurt a bit," she added.

Yan Jue forced a bitter smile, not expecting that what should have been her day of demise had turned into Qi Xianqing pulling her back from the edge of a cliff.

"It doesn't matter," Yan Jue replied.

Clenching her teeth, she suddenly felt a chill in her abdomen, followed by a sharp pain.

Qi Xianqing's cold hand slipped under her clothing, her fingers deftly locating the pressure points before she struck with force.

Yan Jue's entire body went numb, her sense of pain temporarily sealed.

The sensation felt like anesthesia, where the initial pressure point strike was painful.

In the past, when Qi Xianqing faced trouble during her outings, she often suppressed her pain.

But seeing Yan Jue grit her teeth, her eyes misty with tears, she hesitated for a rare moment.

The gilded bead clung to Yan Jue's neck like a parasite, coloring her fair skin with an eerie red.

Qi Xianqing drew the Candle Shadow, which trembled in fear. With her left hand pressing down on Yan Jue, the sword light flickered like lightning.

The originally elegant room was suddenly filled with blood and other strange scents.
