Yan Jue's inky black hair suddenly sprouted a pair of large ears without her knowing when.

These ears were truly big, as dark as ink, but the insides had a hint of soft pink.

Qi Xianqing and Yan Jue were very close, the warm breath brushing against the top of her head, causing those ears to flicker with each breath.

A dense aura of demonic energy suddenly filled the air.

Qi Xianqing instinctively tightened her grip on the sword in her hand.

Over the years, she had sent many demons on their way herself; the mere scent of demonic energy made her instinctively grasp her sword, almost becoming a physical habit.

The demonic energy wafted in the air, growing ever stronger.

Qi Xianqing's hand holding the sword even started to tremble slightly.

"Clang—" The sword was sheathed back into its scabbard by Qi Xianqing.

Yan Jue's clear amber eyes widened slightly. After locking eyes with Qi Xianqing for a moment, she immediately stood up, stumbling as she tried to escape.

Qi Xianqing snapped back to her senses and quickly grabbed her hand. Yan Jue, unprepared, was abruptly pulled backward into Qi Xianqing's embrace.

In a hoarse voice, Qi Xianqing asked, "Where do you think you're going?"

The little fox spirit reeked of alcohol.

Embraced from behind by Qi Xianqing, Yan Jue struggled for a moment but then gave up, slowly letting her hands fall, uncertainly asking, "You're not going to kill me, right?"

Qi Xianqing observed the flushed roots of her ears and said slowly, "But you've heard so many of my secrets."

Her tone suddenly turned sharp: "Shouldn't I silence you?"

Yan Jue was clearly frightened: "But I didn't do it on purpose..."

Qi Xianqing understood what this meant.

It was now very clear.

This little fox spirit was inadvertently confessing and walking into her own trap.

Feeling restrained by Qi Xianqing, Yan Jue instinctively clenched the hem of her clothing.

She was truly afraid of dying; otherwise, she wouldn't have tried to run away in the first place.

In the quiet room, Yan Jue choked back her sobs, her throat rising and falling, her hands hanging at her sides.

Qi Xianqing realized she might have frightened her too much. After a moment of silence, she asked, "So tell me, what should I do to not kill you?"

Half in jest, Yan Jue tilted her head, thought for a moment, then suddenly tensed up, pressing her large ears tightly against her head. She opened her mouth and bared her incisors: "I can only fight you to the death!"

Qi Xianqing: "..."

Looking at Yan Jue's expression, Qi Xianqing felt both amused and exasperated, and she was inexplicably reminded of that little fox baby by the cold pond.

Suddenly, a strange "crack—" echoed through the air.

Yan Jue abruptly curled her body up, bending at the waist, letting out a painful groan.

Cold sweat trickled down her cheeks.

The spiritual power in the earlier "Sea Heart Fragrance" was too pure; she was about to break through.
