"She's so annoying," Qi Xianqing muttered.

Little fox Yan Jue, perched on the table, twitched an ear at the faint hint of irritation in Qi Xianqing's voice.

"I tried using 'Seductive Charm' to deceive her, but she managed to turn the tables on me."

Qi Xianqing continued, seemingly lost in thought, "I expected her to need at least ten days to learn 'Body Flip,' but she mastered it so quickly..."

Yan Jue's little fox form had grown recently—just enough to clamber onto the table on her own. Qi Xianqing propped her chin in her hand, frowning slightly, "She's learning so fast... even faster than I did back then."

It's thanks to your notes, you know. Yan Jue lazily swished her two fiery tails, amused.

Unaware of this, Qi Xianqing murmured to herself, "The notes I prepared have been of no use at all."

Yan Jue blinked. Well, looks like you were hoping for some gratitude there.

Qi Xianqing took a small booklet labeled "Yan Jue" from the shelf, ground the ink, and began to write.

"Tongling Spell."

She continued musing, "The first stage of the Tongling Spell is very difficult. Even if I teach her today, she shouldn't be able to memorize it all at once."

"I took ten days to master the first stage; she'll need at least a month," Qi Xianqing reasoned, "If she takes too long, I'll give her these notes."

Surprisingly, Qi Xianqing's tone didn't carry the pride or satisfaction one might expect. Instead, there was a faint trace of frustration—like a top student suddenly feeling overtaken by an unexpected challenger.

Yan Jue narrowed her eyes as she watched Qi Xianqing.

Just then, Qi Xianqing seemed to remember her presence. "And you," she said, scooping up the little fox and walking over to the bed.

Sensing trouble, the little fox started squirming as they approached the bed, letting out soft "ee ee" sounds. But Qi Xianqing pressed her down gently, her voice low. "Did you do this?"

Yan Jue's eyes slowly rose, taking in the bedpost with a gnawed-off corner.

Oh... that bedpost. She remembered that night she'd been itching her teeth on it.

Qi Xianqing, still holding her firmly, sighed. "Next time you tear things up, you're not getting any treats."

Yan Jue recalled Qi Xianqing's fierce expression from earlier. Sometimes, she thought that Qi Xianqing saved all her kindness and softness just for animals. Lucky fox...

Rolling over, Yan Jue exposed her soft white belly, waving her paws in an attempt to get back on Qi Xianqing's good side.

Qi Xianqing's lips quirked up ever so slightly. She placed a gentle palm on Yan Jue's belly, causing the little fox to kick her legs in delight.

Suddenly, footsteps sounded nearby.

Both Qi Xianqing and Yan Jue turned towards the door.

Standing there was a small wild boar with light brown fur and faint watermelon-like stripes, wearing a shawl woven from dried grass. The boar peeked its head around the doorway, letting out a contented squeal when it saw Qi Xianqing, its tiny ears twitching.

Yan Jue felt a surge of jealousy, baring her teeth.

The boar squeaked back at her, flashing a set of baby teeth.
