Roach wakes you up as the aircraft lands. When you open your eyes, the others have already stood up from their seats and are getting ready to disembark.
You move your hand to unfasten your seatbelt strap while still partially conscious. You next stoop to retrieve your bag, which you had kept beneath your seat during the flight.
When you finally stand up and are ready to follow behind the others, Price comes to your side.
You stare at him instinctively, still trying to organise your thoughts after waking up.
You see Price's lips move to say something, but you don't quite catch what he's saying and only manage to get that he's asking you to follow him.
You turned to see Roach still standing behind you; he just nodded his head and told you to follow the captain. You softly thank him before turning and following Price's steps.
Ghost, Gaz, and Soap have already arrived in the briefing room before you, Price, and Roach got there.
Gaz and Soap took their usual seats, while Ghost chose to lean against the wall.
It's not unusual for him; in fact, it seems like he gets along better with the wall than with the chair.
Still feeling drowsy, you toss your luggage on your seat and opt to stand with your arms crossed in front of your chest instead. Because spending too much time sitting on a plane has made you feel exhausted. And you feel if you choose to sit, it'll only make you sleepy again.
Roach chose to sit down, and Price immediately turned on the LCD screen in the room and connected it to the small laptop he always carried.
Your mind slowly returns to its place as you watch Price prepare what is needed.
And at that moment, you finally realise that you have actually returned to base. Furrowing your brow, you can't help but ask, "What are we doing here?"
Price briefly diverted his gaze to look at you before returning to his laptop. "Finding out."
"What are we trying to find out?" You slightly tilted your head to the side. And before any response is given, another realisation comes to your head. "Wait.""Shouldn't we be in Chicago now?"
"And why is that?" Price asked without taking his eyes off the screen.
"The last missile."
You feel as though the airflow in the room abruptly stops at your response. But you don't understand what went wrong.
Your gaze unconsciously turned towards Ghost.
And as you might have guessed, his gaze was already focused on you.
But before you or Ghost could say something that might cause unnecessary argument, Price immediately cut in to speak.
"Attention on me, lads, lass." His voice is firm and authoritative. Not leaving any room for interruption.
Your head immediately turned to look at him. So did Ghost.
He didn't speak right away but looked at each of his soldiers first before finally landing his gaze on you.
Your subconscious informs you that whatever he is going to say will not be positive based on the eye contact that takes place. Bad news.
As soon as the elder man spoke, your suspicion was reinforced. "Bad news and good news. Which one do you want to hear first?" he said, finally turning his gaze to look in another direction.
Everyone is looking at each other except you, who keeps your focus on the captain. After a moment of silence, Ghost replied, "Let's start with the good one."
Price nodded. "Good news, we were able to locate Hassan and potentially the person responsible for everything."
"Graves?" Ghost asked, but Price shakes his head this time.
"Unfortunately no, but we got the bigger fish."
After saying that, Price's gaze returned to you again. His icy blue eyes seemed to look directly into your soul.
But you don't understand what's wrong with that news. Does that have anything to do with you? It feels like you're missing out on a lot when you decide to sleep on the plane.
