"Just a different shade of blue"
On stage, as the final notes echoed, Billie felt a shiver run across her skin, a rare yet familiar sensation. It was that suspended moment after the last chorus, when silence takes over and everything around her seems to disappear. Finneas was still there beside her, and without him, this magical moment wouldn't have held the same intensity. They were two halves of the same soul.
Billie turned her head slightly and met her brother's gaze. In his eyes, she saw a blend of pride, love, and a deep understanding beyond words. That intense, serene look said to her, without a single word, that he would always be there for her. He was her anchor, her artistic half, her partner in every moment, her best friend. She knew that without him, this room would feel empty, no matter how full it appeared.
The crowd was still cheering, the applause growing louder and louder, the connection between her and Finneas lighting up the space between them. Billie moved closer, grabbed his arm, and raised it high in the air like a trophy.
Taking a deep breath to steady her heartbeat, she raised her mic, calling out to the crowd with a soft, sincere voice.
"London! I want to hear you one last time, for the person without whom none of this would exist: my big brother!"
The crowd responded with a thunderous ovation, but Billie and Finneas were in their own world. He looked at her with a smile full of gratitude and pure affection, and she returned that smile, her eyes bright with emotion. They didn't need to speak, they understood each other without words, communicating through looks and slight expressions, as if sharing a secret language that belonged to them alone.
They left the stage together, still caught up in the thrill of the moment. Billie felt relieved, freed from the weight of the past few days. She hadn't stopped worrying about Ellie, wondering what could have happened to her all that time, and now Ellie was back in her life.
Finneas placed a reassuring hand on Billie's shoulder as they made their way backstage. The intensity of the concert and the intimacy of the moment had exhausted her more than usual.
Billie: "Dude, you have no idea what happened," she finally murmured, excitement evident in her voice.
Finneas, who hadn't stopped looking at her with that quiet attention, already knew where she was headed. He smiled, leaving a slight suspense before answering, his tone innocent:
Finneas: "Hmm... this has to do with Ellie, right?"
Billie's eyes widened, surprise and complicity dancing across her face. She gently punched him on the shoulder, unable to hold back a laugh of relief and excitement mixed together.
Billie: "Wait... you knew?!"
Finneas shrugged with that calm, mysterious smile, fully aware that he had orchestrated this little surprise from the start.
Finneas: "She contacted me a few days ago. She wanted help finding you, to apologize. I didn't say anything to keep the surprise. Wasn't it more intense this way?"
Billie couldn't help but smile as she looked at her brother.
Billie: "You're such a traitor, but thanks, bro. That was fucking intense, that's the word."
Finneas' confession sparked an overwhelming rush of love in Billie's heart. She felt a weight lift from her shoulders, a weight she hadn't realized she was carrying until that moment.
She wrapped her arms around her brother, holding him with remarkable strength, feeling her heart beat in sync with his. It was more than just a hug, it was a silent promise, a way of telling him that without him, none of this would ever have been possible.
Billie: "I love you, Finn," she murmured, her voice muffled by emotion. "More than anything."
Finneas held her a little tighter, one hand gently resting behind her head, eyes closed, savoring the warmth of the embrace. For him too, there was nothing more important than this relationship. Their sibling love was like a vital force that guided every step they took, a silent power that made everything else bearable, even the darkest days. Billie was his daily inspiration, and he would do anything for her, truly.
Finneas: "I love you too" he replied, his voice trembling slightly.
They stayed like that for a few moments, in that suspended world just for them, before Finneas loosened his embrace just enough to look her in the eyes. Billie met his gaze, and she realized just how special their bond was, how he understood her better than anyone else. She smiled at him, a spark of gratitude in her eyes, realizing once again that none of this would make sense without him by her side.
