"Mom?"

Cody knocked on the door waiting on her voice to greet him but it didn't. After at least a minute, cody entered anyway thinking she was probably still asleep.

When we entered though, the room was cleared. The bed was made, and none of her belongings were in the room. They were no where. Cody turned to me with a confused, worried, and deeply terrified emotion on his face.

He immediately stormed passed me and to the check in counter in the hall.

"Where is sky king?" He asked very strongly.

"Hold on one moment sir let me check." She said in a little peppy tone.

"What do you mean sir? I live here! Im not some stranger! Where is my freakin' mother?" He yelled across the counter.

The lady at the counter typed away very quickly. Tears started to flow from his rage filled cheeks.

"Cody, it will all be ok. We will find her!" I reassured.

"Why would they move her? This is her perminate room! She lived in that room! Where is she? They cant just do that to us!!!"

He started to break down and his head fell onto my shoulder. They woman at the counter made a noise like she was clearing her throat to get our attention.

"Sir?"

Cody looked up desperately.

"I am very sorry.......sky king......passed away last night."

Cody started pitching a fit. It scared me.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN? THAT IS A LOAD OF CRAP! SHE JUST TALKED TO ME LAST NIGHT!!!! YOU ARE MAKING A MISTAKE!"

He fisted his hands and squeezed them until they were red.

"TELL ME WHERE SHE IS!!!! TELL ME!!!! NOW!!!!"

I tried to grab him from behind to control him, but he shoved me away. I cowered in fear but didn't take it personally.

He started banging on the counter and punching the wall. The lady picked up the phone and dialed security very quickly.

"Please come! It is an emergency! A kid is destroying the lobby and stirring the patients. He ran to me and picked me up. He carried me back to his room locking the door behind us.

"WHY WOULD THEY LIE ABOUT THAT? I JUST SAW HER LAST NIGHT! THEY COULDN'T HAVE CLEANED HER ROOM OUT THAT FAST, RIGHT? They couldn't have! They couldn't have."

His voice calmed as the rage turned into extreme depression. I held him.

"Shhhh! Shhhh! Calm down. Everything is going to be fine. I will help you through this."

We laid on his bed together, tears painting our faces and then the pillow. After he finally calmed down and started to believe it, he wouldn't talk. At all. Thats ok though, i wouldn't expect him to. I couldn't tell how long it had been, but after a while there was a brief knocking at the door. I slid out of bed, trying not to wake cody. When i opened the door it was a familiar face. It was doctor riley.

"Hello julie."

He spoke with a sullen smile.

"Can i speak with you in the hall? Its about cody."

I nodded in approval and joined him in the hallway.

"I am so sorry to rush things but since there is no guardian left to take care of him, we have to enroll him into saint joes tommorow."

"Saint joes?"

"The local adoption center and homeless clinic."

I looked at the floor.

"What if someone where to adopt him first? How much would that cost?"

"Well, nothing if he was adopted before his enrollment. Do you have someone in mind?"

"Possibly." I said excusing myself from the conversation.

"Can we talk later?" I asked before dashing down the hall.

"You know where to find me."

I ran down to Braxton's room and searched it for my cell phone. Nothing. It was probably dead anyway. I left his room, and ran down the hallway to the pay phone. After dialing my dad's number, i informed him about everything.

"Dad, can we please adopt Cody? It is free of charge. I just cant let his life get destroyed."

He refused me my wish and i argued with him on the subject for at least an hour. (Probably longer) (i didn't want to bore you with the details), Until i finally said something that caught his attention.

"If it was Kendly would you do it?"

He was silent for forever.

"Jules,"

"Dad, please. Don't leave his life ruined. Save him. Save him for me. Save me."

"Who do i talk to?"

"THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! Just meet me at the hospital as soon as you can!"

I squeaked with joy

I rushed down the hall to try and find doctor riley. And boy it sure was hard. I approached the receptionist, but when she looked up and saw me, her eyes started to shake in fear. I saw her hand quickly flinch to the phone, threatening to call for security.

"I am so sorry about earlier!"

She looked down in embarrassment.

"But wouldn't you act the same if your mother, the last family member you have left in this world, had just passed away?"

Her eyes calmed a bit but she still didn't speak.

"Do you know where doctor riley is?"

"Um....." She typed away on her keyboard for a couple of seconds.

"Hes..." she gulped. "H-hes down the hall."

"Thank you!" I exerted my happiness onto her hoping she would catch it.

"I hope your day, gets better! And i am so sorry!"

I knew she wouldn't answer so i preceded down the hall to where she had informed me he was. I checked in his office but the light was off.

"Doctor Riley?"

"Julie?"

"Yes. Doctor?"

"Come here a second will you?"

I hesitated before entering the pitch dark room. I couldn't see a thing.

"Please help me." His desperate voice said.

It sounded as if it were coming from the corner. Maybe in the floor.

"Where are you? Can i turn on the lights?"

"No! Just please help me."
