Okay, this one is a little different. Since momma Kelce attended the eras tour I was inspired. I wanted Taylor to bond more with momma Kelce.
Taylor sat at her vanity carefully applying makeup, taking it off, and reapplying. Growing frustrated from her self doubt and shaky hands. "Come on Taylor, you need to look perfect for tonight." She whispered to herself as she once again started all over. Being a celebrity of her magnitude came with a heavy load some days. Perfectionism for one. Always wondering what people thought of her, and every once in a while that would slip into her personal life. Sometimes wondering why Travis or their families would put up with her and everything she brought to the table. Travis was throwing Taylor a celebration with their friends and family for the smashing success of The Tortured Poets Department. While she was so proud of her new albums success, the intrusive, mean thoughts were sneaking into her brain. Almost feeling like an inconvenience for the families having to travel, hoping it didn't feel like she was rubbing success in their faces- even though Travis planned it.
As Taylor wiped her makeup off for the fourth time she let a single tear glide down her face. She took deep breaths to try and calm her thoughts and tears but more and more slipped out. With impeccable timing, she heard a gentle knock at her bedroom door. Assuming it was security, she wiped her face and yelled "come in!" The door opened and Taylor was shocked to see that it was Donna Kelce holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers- one of the biggest she'd seen. Taylor did a quick sniff and subtly wiped the remaining wet spots from her face. Donna looked on with a furrowed brow and concern. Taylor stood up and put on her best staged voice. "Oh my goodness! I didn't think you could come until later on! I am so happy to see you!" Taylor attempted to say excitedly but her voice cracked. Donna walked over to Taylor and handed her the massive bouquet. "I hope this is okay, your security let me in. I got an earlier flight and wanted to see you before the hustle and bustle of tonight. I wanted to express how unbelievably proud I am of you and your success. You work so hard and it's evident." She said with a massive smile. Taylor stood there with her mouth half hung open clutching the flowers like her life depending on it. Not being able to find words to say. Donna watched as tears began to fall so freely they didn't even touch her face. Donna gently grabbed the vase and set it on the makeup table and then guided her over to the window seat. She helped Taylor sit down as Taylor finally pulled her knees up to her face and allowed the tears to fall freely without stopping them. Gentle sobs wrecked her body.
As Donna rubbed her back her concern grew. She had really grown to have a deep love for Taylor and knew her life wasn't easy in the slightest. After a few moments Taylor stopped crying, wiped her face on her robe and looked at Donna. "I promise I'm okay. I'm just a little emotional today is all." She couldn't even finish the sentence without breaking eye contact. Donna stopped rubbing her back and held her hand firm. "Taylor, you are an unbelievable pop star and my son's favorite person- but you are a horrible liar." She said with a slight smirk trying to lighten the mood just a little. Taylor did one faint chuckle and looked back at Donna. "How about, I will be okay in a little bit?" Taylor said. "What's going on sweetie? Today's an exciting day for you. I absolutely hate to see you cry." Donna said as she moved her hand from holding Taylor's hand to rubbing her back to playing with her hair in attempt to provide comfort. Taylor sniffled. "It's dumb, really. I wouldn't even know how to explain it." Taylor said. "Well, can I guess? And don't feel badly about crying- I've held Kylie a time or two as she cried as well. Us ladies have to stick together." She gave a warm smile that made Taylor feel the safest she's felt in a while.
Donna continued: "are you feeling a bit overwhelmed? Maybe like you don't deserve this party tonight?" Taylor's quivering lip was all the answer Donna needed. She continued again. "Taylor, sweetheart, you do know we absolutely wouldn't want to be anywhere else tonight? If Travis hadn't of thrown this shindig I would have myself. You work harder than anyone I've ever seen; don't tell my sons but yes, even harder than them. You deserve celebration. Why do you think you don't?" Donna nudged gently. "It's not that I think I don't..." Taylor began, "I just feel like an inconvenience sometimes. It's hard to coordinate with my security and everyone has to be a subject to paparazzi, all for what? To celebrate a simple album. It's not worth it." Taylor said looking away. Donna placed her hands on Taylor's shoulders and made her turn to face her. "A few things I have to say about what you just said and I want you listen carefully." Donna replied.
Taylor couldn't look her in the eye but nodded carefully. Donna continued: "number one- an inconvenience? Absolutely not. You add joy and excitement into our lives. Number two- the security has been easy to navigate. I got in here without needing help didn't I? And the paparazzi I learned to ignore long ago, I have two famous sons remember? And the last thing...." Donna paused talking and gently lifted Taylor's chin and forced her to look at her before continuing. "Simple?? Another SIMPLE album? That one has to be a joke. That album is written like poetry. All thirty one songs. Never ever refer to your works of ART as simple." Donna let go of Taylor's chin and chuckled as she watched Taylor's blush creep up her neck and darken her skin. "Our family loves you so much Taylor. We love that you devote your life to music and art. We love that you take such good care of Travis. We love your baked goods. We love your undeniably big heart and kind soul. We love when you get lost in your giggle fits..." Donna said as she squeezed Taylor's ticklish knee a few times so Taylor would giggle and prove her point... "we love the way you make Travis the happiest he's ever been. And we love YOU." Taylor couldn't say anything but enveloped Donna in a hug. "Thank you, Donna. I desperately needed someone who wasn't Travis to tell me that. He would love me no matter what so sometimes that discredits his words and fuels my anxiety." She explained. Donna rubbed her back up and down comfortingly.
"Hey Taylor?" Donna questioned. "What's up?" Taylor asked as she finally broke the hug. "If you seriously ever call your music simple again not only will I tattle on you to Travis but I will personally help him tickle you to pieces." Donna was half joking but was also trying to pull Taylor from her anxiety filled mind with joking and teasing. Taylor blushed and giggled and covered her face. "How did you even find out about that? She said through her hands covering her blush. "When Travis gushes about you ON and ON and ON he gives away tons of useful information including the fact that he can draw out the three s' from you- squeaks, shrills and snorts when he tickles you." Donna said as she laughed. Taylor, still covering her face leaned backwards onto the bench feeling the heat burn her ears. Travis would be in trouble for that one. Donna laughed at her blushing predicament and wanted her smile to continue so she took a chance and gently tickled Taylor's side. Taylor squealed and pulled her arm down. Donna continued and poked at her stomach. After a few other pokes to her ribs and stomach and one snort from Taylor, Donna stopped. "Travis would want you smiling." She said with one more pinch to her knee eliciting one more squeak. Taylor jumped to her feet in defense. "You're no better than your son." Taylor playfully scolded. Donna laughed. "Go get ready for your special evening young lady. We have an extraordinary album to celebrate!"
