_Kamya's Perspective
__I leaned back in the couch, my legs automatically manspreaded as I got comfortable. I was scrolling on Instagram bored out of my mind. Jai hasn't texted me back since earlier this morning, but I didn't sweat it I know she be busy.
The timer that abruptly went off snapped me out of my thoughts. My friend, Jazmine, emerged from the kitchen with a platter full of chocolate chip cookies. My favorite.
"All of this for me?" I sarcastically asked with fake surprise. "You didn't have to." I reached my hand towards the platter, but it to get swatted away by Jaz.
"These ain't for you. Move before I bite your hand." She rested the plater on the center table before disappearing to the kitchen again. Rude.
"You know you can help me set up right?" She semi-yelled from the kitchen. Jaz was setting up a 'friend get-together,' we normally have these occasionally because everyone's schedule is hectic. To have everyone all in one spot tends to get impossible.
"I could help by eating those cookies." I commented back.
There was a knock on the door. I glanced at the time expecting that it's almost time for them to be getting here.
I rose from the couch, walking over to the door to open it. Behind the door stood my other friends, Akari and Lyric. Akari is the most corniest person you could ever imagine. Her chocolate complexion is vibrant and beautiful but she is the most lightskin darkskin ever. On the other hand, Lyric is down to earth. Her settle energy is hard to miss. She is the perfect mixture between dark and light, her caramelized skin is beautiful as well.
Akari labels as a stud and Lyric? The straightest individual you could encounter.
"Wassup guys!" I greeted them before letting them in.
"Hey Mya. I missed you so much!" Lyric hugged me.
"Wassup Mya, where jaz?" Akari asked.
"Rude much. You should be excited to see me," I fake pouted to make Akari hug me. Believe it or not, I'm the baby of the group and they hate to see me sad. She rolled her eyes and leaned in for a hug. "Jaz in the kitchen." I said with the biggest smile.
"What you been up to?" I turned my attention to Lyric. We sat on the couch and I sat in the position I was in earlier.
She gave me a knowing look. "Mmm, you know the usual."
"Oh girl you nasty." We busted out laughing.
"Hush, what about you?"
"You know, just school as of right now."
She hummed in response. "Guess what." She spoke.
"What?" I looked over at her to see she was cheesing overly hard.
"You got to guess." Her smile grew bigger.
I rolled my eyes. "Girl just tell me before I explode."
She took a long dramatic sigh. "Don't tell the group yet, but I finally opened my nail salon!" She beamed with excitement.
"What!? Really, oh my god I'm so proud of you. Congratulations!"
Suddenly Jaz and Akira made their way to the living room with hands full of dishes. There were wings, fries, and ice cream all laid out on the center table.
"What we congratulating her about?" Jazmine asked before she sat on the couch across from us.
"Well," Lyric dragged out the word. "I wanted to keep it a surprise, but I finally opened my nail salon!"
"Oh shit. Congratulations!" Akira stated.
A ding suddenly came from my phone signifying I received a text. I tuned them out and grabbed my phone swiftly checking to see who texted me, I was hoping it was Jai.
And indeed it was.
Jai 🤍: hey lil girl my apologies i been a little busy today
Jai 🤍: wyd? can we call tn?My face lit up as I read from the notification center the thread of messages she sent. I clicked on the message to respond.

I felt as if eyes were on me, once I looked up from my phone I noticed all three of my friends staring at me with a smirk. I mentally sighed.
"So, who was that Mya?" Jazmine asked with the biggest grin.
"Yeah Mya, who got you smiling at your phone like that?" Akira butted in with yet another big grin.
I groaned. "Nobody."
"Well the way you was cheesing says otherwise." Lyric spoke.
I cut my head towards her. "You suppose to be on my side." I whispered to her before sighing.
"Tell us." Jaz spoke edging me to spill.
"Fine. It's this girl I met off Instagram a few weeks ago."
Akira clapped her hands happily. "Ou Mya got herself a crush."
I wiped my head towards her with quickness. "A crush!? No!"
