"The body improvement club of all things?" Ari asks incredulously as they walk to school together. There's nothing wrong with wanting to improve oneself, especially their strength, but... well, she doesn't want to be mean or anything, but Shigeo doesn't exactly seem like the type to run around with a bunch of big, buff guys. "Why go for that one?"
"I want to get stronger. I want to change," he says. "There are things that you can't get from just being a psychic. You can't automatically get good grades, or a lot of friends, or muscles."
"How many times do I have to tell you, you can be a God!" Dimple exclaims, exasperated, but neither one of them pay any mind. Megumi doesn't either.
"I guess I can understand that, but..." she trails off. She doesn't understand why he so much has to change himself rather than improve. If anything, she likes him the way he is now, even if he's a little on the socially awkward side. She is, too, but she's learned to mask it over years of torment. "I don't think you should have to change yourself just so people can like you."
"It's not just people, it's..."
He falls silent when a girl and a couple of her friends walk by. She finds herself looking at the girl in the middle, as well. She's a pretty sight, with long hair and a cute smile as she chit chats with her friends. She thinks it's safe to assume that this is the person he wants to impress - a popular girl with lots of friends.
But, she finds herself raising her eyebrows when she sees the girl's smile falter a little bit when her friends aren't looking. Like she's just trying to keep appearances up... she glances at Shigeo, but he doesn't seem to notice it at all since he's too starstruck with her. "I see..." she murmurs, still not happy with him wanting to be someone else just for a crush.
Only when she passes by completely and is out of eyeshot does he snap out of it. It's obvious he's smitten, but it sort of seems like they don't even talk? Does he like her just because she's pretty? She's kind of curious. "Oh, right. Are you wanting to join any clubs too?" He asks as they walk through the gates of school.
"Well, I don't know. I don't really know my options, but if there isn't anything that intrigues me, probably not," she shrugs, stepping out of her outdoor shoes and into her indoor ones.
"There is the school newspaper, the telepathy club, I'm pretty sure the body improvement club would let a girl join if you asked... oh, there's the tennis club as well!"
She cringes at the thought of her wielding a tennis racket. The last time she tried to play, it was for a unit in PE class, and she hit the ball way too hard and sent it flying, which subsequently hit some dude in the head and knocked his ass out. "Yeah, that's going to be a no from me," she shakes her head.
It's not like she has anything else to do after school anyway. She only is going to work a couple days a week, and her mom usually doesn't get home from the university she works at till a bit later. It wouldn't be a bad idea to join one if she found one she was interested in... maybe it would be a good way to make friends.
"My queen!"
She peeks up at the voice and looks at Shigeo with a little bit of a furrow in her brow. Were they talking to that really pretty girl? She seems like the type of person that people would refer to as "my queen"... even if it's totally weird. Her confusion only increases when Shigeo points just next to him, indicating for her to look.
