The appearance on television was a complete and utter disaster. A dumpster fire, even. Supernatural Detective completely and utterly destroyed Reigen's reputation and exposed him as a fraud for the entire country to see. Suddenly, all of his "victims" began banding together in order to speak out about him. Everyone seems to have caught onto this fact, except for one key person.
Shigeo, Inukawa, and Ari are walking alongside each other to their respective classrooms. Inukawa looks at the two of them with a slightly concerned expression. "Uh, so... the place you guys work for is Spirits and Such, right?" He asks.
Ari waves her hand. "I work for Snowdrop Psychic Mediums," she quickly says, already knowing where this is going. She heard the news via twitter last night, but she just didn't want to bring it up to Shigeo.
"I do," Shigeo nods.
Inukawa stops in his tracks. "Wait, so is your master... is his name Reigen Arataka?"
"That's him."
She cringes and looks away, rubbing the back of her neck. And, just as she had suspected, the questioning begins. "You seriously haven't heard?" Their friend frets. "Your master is totally getting bashed online and on TV! It's super bad, dude!"
"Oh..." He's quiet for a moment before he shrugs, a little bit of a smile on his face. "It's okay. This is all a part of his plan."
What?! She whips her head to look at him, trying to keep her jaw off the floor. There's no way this was a part of his plan! I saw the clips online - that creepy old man made a complete ass out of him! And the way he was sweating... No way he planned that!
"How could he have planned something like that! It was catastrophic, Mob!" Inukawa cries, waving his hands wildly.
"My master is one of the smartest people I know. He wanted to be popular, so he knew that a scandal would help him out. I trust him," he says, almost sounding proud. He keeps on walking along. Inukawa and Ari share a look before trailing behind him.
How is he going to get himself out of this one? If he doesn't, then Shigeo...
Days have passed, and nothing has gotten better. If anything, it's gotten worse. Twitter has always been a cesspit, but the things that people are saying about Reigen are completely awful. They're even talking about him on 2chan. His name has become synonymous with pure evil, which is a massive stretch, but people on the internet are always completely idiotic no matter what country they're in, it seems.
"Dammit, dammit, dammit!" Micah paces back and forth, his hands nestled in his own hair, tugging at the black locks. "I told that idiot that it wasn't a good idea, but he never fucking listens! Now look at him, a laughingstock to the whole country! You know, I don't know why I even try with him! It's all about popularity with him - "
"Micah-san..."
"He couldn't just be satisfied with being Seasoning City's bro. No, he had to get greedy. I knew it was fishy when he suddenly would go on TV. I know that old man had to have set him up! That son of a bitch was probably just bitter that he got kneed! Yeah, well, he saved your life, you decrepit piece of shit!"
"Micah-san."
"And another thing - "
"Micah!"
That finally shuts him up, and he looks over at her properly. It's obvious that he's really torn up about this whole situation, and if he's torn up, she can't even begin to imagine what Reigen is feeling.
"What are we going to do?" She asks slowly. "This can't keep going on, and we know that."
He falters a little and trudges back to his desk before flopping back into his chair. He covers his face in his hands, slumping down in his seat. "I don't know," he admits with a rough voice. "I've tried to talk to people on the forums, but they just think I'm him trying to do damage control. I've probably made it worse."
